SOCIETY FOR INFORMATION DISPLAY SID-ME NEWSLETTER #37 / DECEMBER 2016 This year’s SID-ME Fall Meeting took place November 3rd and 4th in Berlin and was hosted by the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute. During the event, the SID-ME General Meeting was organized and the serving officers were re-elected by hand raising. Finally, also the SID-ME Best Student Award 2016 ceremony was held and the €1500 prize handed over to the winner. PAST EVENT ACTIVITIES TOPICS SID-ME FALL MEETING SID-ME FALL MEETING 2016 Introduction of Fraunhofer HHI by Mr. Ralf Schäfer Introduction of Merck by Mr. Jens Osterodt Despite the moderate number of participants (32), the audience was very interested in the talks and the discussions were lively and intense. On the second day, there was an opportunity to witness several demonstrations organized by Fraunhofer HHI as well as a visit to the impressive TiMELab. Also these activities were highly appreciated by the participants. Participants during the SID-ME Chapter Fall Meeting SID-ME Spring Meeting 2017 The SID-ME Spring Meeting 2017 will proceed on March 13-14 in Dresden (Fraunhofer FEP). This year’s SID-ME Fall Meeting took place November 3rd and 4th in Berlin and was hosted by the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute.

ELECTIONS OF THE S ID-MEC OFFICERS FOR 2017

The 1500 Euro SID-ME Chapter Best Student Award is granted yearly for an outstanding scientific or technical contribution to research on information display. The applicant must be a student (up to and including PhD student) when the work is performed and must be a member or student member of the SID-ME Chapter when the application is submitted. To participate, submit your abstract to the Chapter Meeting where the award will be granted and indicate that you want to participate in the competition. The Award Committee (Prof. Dr. Norbert Fruehauf, Prof. Dr. Herbert De Smet, Dr. Jens Osterodt, Dr. Stefan Riehemann, Coen van’t Westeinde) will rank all applications and choose the winner.
