SIDDARTH (2014) REVIEW 3-15-2015 3-15-2015 - Written By: Raymond C. Reed Global Media Village - David L. $Money Train$ Watts Journalist/Film Reviewer FuTurXTV & HHBMedia.com - David Velo Stewart Editor HHBMedia.com
If you have an opportunity to see the film SIDDARTH [SIDDARATH], by all means do so. Director, Richie Mehta, presented a colorful palate of the
opposite intensities of life in India; and takes you on an enthralling journey
into the Indian culture with glimpses into a wondrous yet challenging world--
the depths of which elude the common American.
He avoids the regular tourist stops and stock footage and brings you directly
into the compelling story and challenges faced by a family of modest means
and limited education who realize an unexpected disappearance of their
young son. The goodness and honesty of the people are not diminished by the
harsh realities of their circumstances and the events that drive the story.
The filmmaker does such a visually complete cinematic job in telling the story
and capturing seamless acting performances, that the film has the authenticity
of a documentary with the intrigue and suspense of a well honed and refined
drama. It takes the time needed to fully develop the characters, much like a
John Sayles film, and presents good people who are limited, and flawed; yet
complete in their character development as being human and willing to do
what they can.
Facing the inadequacies and imperfections in each socio-economic sub-strata
of the society, and the limited governmental resources that are dedicated to an
Herculean challenge, the protagonist is left to fend for himself, and his family,
with the limited support he can enlist for his immediate community.

The film does not have the hero: Liam Neeson riding to the rescue with guns
blazingas the Taken films come to mind. Instead, it has a real and determined man with meager resources and a limited skill set hardly worthy
of the task--doing what he can.
The happy ending you grow to hope for--while watching the filmis found only tangentially. As we gradually accept the realities of his situation, solace
and a modicum of peace comes to our protagonist from a least expected but
welcome source.
