SKILL LEVEL - Beginner / Easy

SIZE - Approximately 7” wide x 62” long (or desired length)

SUPPLIES 180 - 200 yards Super Bulky weight yarn (more for longer scarf) US Size 13 knitting needles (or size necessary to obtain gauge) Tapestry needle

GAUGE* Stockinette stitch with size 13 needles: 10 sts & 13 rows = 4”

*Gauge does not have to be exact. However, knitting will look best with fairly tight stitches.

DIRECTIONS With size 13 needles cast on 15 sts for 7” wide scarf. (If using different weight yarn, see modification tips below.)

Work as follows:

Row 1: *K3, P3; repeat from *, end K3

Row 2: same as Row 1

The pattern is made up of these 2 rows. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until scarf is 62” long, or desired length.

Bind off in pattern when work is desired length. Cut yarn leaving an 8” tail. With a tapestry needle, carefully weave in ends.

MODIFICATIONS This pattern may be modified for different weight yarns. Change the number of stitches cast on to suit your gauge and desired scarf width. To change the number of stitches cast on and use this stitch pattern, multiply as follows:

3 x any odd number = number of sts to cast on

For example: 3 x 9 = 27 sts to cast on (suggest for chunky weight yarn)

Yarn Suggestions

This pattern is designed for use with “Super Bulky” weight yarn. On the yarn label, usually on the back next to gauge & care info, look for a yarn symbol with the number “6” on it. Super Bulky yarn falls in yarn weight category 6.

In the U.S., there are many “Super Bulky” yarns to choose from at local yarn shops or major craft retailers including:

Lion Brand Wool-Ease “Thick & Quick”

Lion Brand Hometown USA

Loops & Threads “Cozy Wool”

Rowan Brand “Big Wool”
