Introduction:

This Candidate Guide will help you maneuver through the Siemens screening process by teaching you

step-by-step processes and functions.

Siemens Screening/Selection Process Siemens Energy has several steps in their screening process:

Job Interest Form completed by candidate

Candidate invited to Phase I Pre-Employment – 3 Assessments

Candidate invited to Phase II Pre-Employment – 2 Assessments

Successful candidates are placed in a “pool” to be possibly interviewed – based on their

skills/experience

Welding Candidates invited to Phase IV Pre-Employment – 1 Assessment

Pre-Employment allows the company to learn more about a candidate and for the candidate to

learn more about the company.

The Selection Process is Automated: You will need to be able to move around the internet and

use basic Windows features such as, Copy/Paste and Open New Window. You will also need an

email account.

Frequently Ask Questions: (FAQs)

1. I created my WorkKeys® account, but I cannot see my scores, what do I do?

A. Your scores are not displaying due to the following reasons:

a. You created your WorkKeys® account different than the way you “bubbled-in” your data on the answer document. ** Remember that there are no spaces or hyphens in the examinee ID. **

i. Login to your WorkKeys® account and click on “Update Match Criteria” – make the necessary changes by filling in field 2.

ii. If you cannot figure out what may be different call 1-800-WORKKEY to see if they can find you in the database.

iii. If they cannot locate you - you can submit an email to the address located on the Siemens site when you login.

b. You did not completely fill in the 5 match criteria fields when filling in your answer document or left off the form and booklet number of the assessment.

i. Unfortunately, your answer document could not be scored, because of the missing data. It will be your responsibility to retake the assessment. Go to www.cpcc.edu and enter “CRC” in the search bar to see a schedule and registration information.

enter CRC @search bar

c. Other information on the answer document may have been mis-bubbled. i. Call 1-800-WORKKEY and see if they can find you in the database.

ii. If they cannot locate you - you can submit an email to the address located on the Siemens Charlotte site when you log in.

2. Why does the Siemens site tell me that my scores cannot be verified?

A. You either did not submit the Electronic Certificate ID correctly OR you did not make your

certificate public. Please refer to pages 7-10 of this guide for help.

3. Where do I go to register for WorkKeys®?

A. You can go to www.cpcc.edu and enter “CRC” in the search bar to view Central Piedmont Community College schedule and registration information. Registration is required and payment is due on the day of your assessment. enter CRC @search bar

4. Where do I go to take the assessments?

A. Assessments are held at the Harris Campus – 3216 CPCC Harris Campus Drive – Charlotte –

NC - 28208

5. How much do WorkKeys® assessments cost?

A. Central Piedmont Community College charges $10/each for the three assessments that

make up the Career Readiness Certificate. Applied Technology is $20.

6. How do I prepare for these assessments?

A. There are many ways to prepare for the WorkKeys® assessments.

a. Go to www.workkeys.com and click on Practice Tests for $5/each. This is a good

way to see what an assessment looks like. b. Go to www.cpcc.edu and enter “CRC” in the search bar. Once on the web page,

To prepare for the Applied Technology and/or Blueprint Reading assessments, you can call CPCC’s Customer Service line to find out scheduling and cost information.

Applied Technology Class Course Code: SMN7161 Blueprint Reading Class Course Code: SMN7131 Customer Service: 704-330-4223.

7. Do I have to take the Applied Technology and/or Blueprint Reading classes before I take the related assessments?

A. No. Siemens does not require you to take these classes. This is an option to help you

prepare.

8. Where do I go to get my Blueprint Reading assessment score?

A. You do not go anywhere to get this score. The actual score is not available to you – only a Pass or Fail indicator, which is located in your Siemens site. Please refer to pages 14 or 16 where it describes the different tags you will be placed in after completing these training sessions.

9. How do I retrieve my Applied Technology score sheet?

A. Please refer to page 15 in this guide for step-by-step instructions.

10. What is the candidate pool?

A. Once you have successfully completed Phase I and II you are tagged to be considered for

interview. Considered for interview does not guarantee an interview. To be considered your skill sets would need to match the skill sets that are required for the “open jobs” in the plant.

11. How long can I expect to wait before being called in for an interview?

A. It can take as long as one month. The interview timeline is based on you meeting the skill

sets that are needed for a job that is opened.

A. No. All questions/concerns can be directed by email to [email protected] . All

emails will be responded to within 5 business days. Please refer to the candidate guide before emailing. Most questions/concerns are addressed in this guide.

14. Are there any other assessments after Phase II?

A. Yes, only for welders. If Siemens identifies you as a welder (based on the questions you

answered on your job interest form) you may be invited to Phase IV Pre-Employment, which is the NCCER written assessment.
