Sift Test ObjectiveSift Test Objective

• To confirm new product’s sift-resistance level • To ensure customers’ comfort level with eliminating

a liner from the package using FlapMate closure

Sift Test ProceduresSift Test Procedures

1. Torque Meter measures the torque of a closure on a bottle in inch-pounds.

3. The package is placed into a fixture so that the bottle stays in place when the test is conducted.

4. The configuration is placed into a sieve shaker. The test is conducted for one minute.

2. A Heat Gun is used to shrink the tamper-evident band around the bottle and closure.

Level 3: Dusting – Increased particle count, one layer of beads or product, too many to count.

Level 4: Sifting – Accumulated particles, multiple layers and deposits, possibly measurable by weight.
