PLASTERBOARD, ACCESS SOLUTIONSLININGS, PLASTER AND ADHESIVES

The future is made of Saint-Gobain

Founded in 1665, Saint-Gobain’s first project was to supply 357 mirrors for the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles. Since then the group has achieved and retained a position in the world’s 100 largest industrial corporations.

Today Saint-Gobain specialises in the design, production and distribution of functional materials for the construction, industrial and consumer markets, covering four business sectors: Innovative materials, construction products, building distribution and packaging.

Headquartered in Paris, Saint-Gobain has operations in more than 64 countries and began trading in the Middle East as Gyproc in 2005. In April 2010, the company’s first plasterboard manufacturing plant opened on a seven hectare site in Abu Dhabi - which serves the entire Middle East.

The products being offered in the region include Gyproc plasterboards, Gypframe metal components, Gyproc Accessories and Gyproc Plasters. All Gyproc products comply with international standards such

as BS, ASTM and EN with Civil Defence

and Municipalities across the region.

Gyproc products have been used on

some of the largest projects in the

region, including: the stations and main

depot for Dubai Metro; Atlantis Hotel,

Palm Jumeirah; Capital Gate Abu

Dhabi; Ferrari Experience Abu Dhabi

and Masdar Insititute Abu Dhabi.

A strategic focus on sustainable homes

Saint-Gobain is constantly innovating to

make homes more comfortable,

cost-efficient and sustainable worldwide.

Saint-Gobain solutions span from

self-cleaning windows and photovoltaic

glass to smart insulation systems, water

supply systems and solar solutions.

The market leader in all areas of

operation, the group offers solutions

for the major challenges of energy

eff iciency and environmental

protection. No matter what new needs

emerge in the habitat and construction

markets, the future is made of

Saint-Gobain.

An innovation-driven Group

Since 1665, Saint-Gobain has consistently demonstrated its ability to invent products that improve quality of life.

As one of the top 100 industrial groups in the world, Saint-Gobain continues to deploy its technological know-how, often in partnership with the most prestigious universities and laboratories.

To give an idea of its commitment to innovation, 20% of Saint-Gobain products did not exist five years ago.

Gyproc Access Panels

Access to hidden services, such as pipes, cabling and air condition units can often be challenging once installed. With Gyproc’s range of access panels, access is quick and easy. Standard panels can be used for everyday use in ceilings whilst a range of high performance fire-rated panels are available for ceilings and walls.

The fire-rated range of panels have a powder-coated, beaded steel frame with a metal or gypsum door conforming to Fire Performance Standards: BS746: part 22: 1987 and BS EN 1634-1: 2000 and offer 60 or 120 minutes fire protection.

Gyproc launches a new high performance M2TECH lining system that offers outstanding resistance to moisture and mold. The system has been specially developed for high moisture environments, such as kitchens, wet rooms, gym and pool areas etc. It is ideal as a wall and ceiling lining in residential, commercial, educational and healthcare buildings, and is especially useful in fast build projects where linings are applied before the exterior fabric is completed. The new system brings together new Gyproc M2TECH board, mold resistant fibre tape and a special moisture and mold resistant ready-mixed joint compound – everything needed to produce a complete moisture and mold resistant lining.

M2TECH Gypsum Boards

Gyproc Moisture and Mold Resistant boards achieve the highest possible ratings for mold resistance in ASTM D3273 and ASTM G21, the industry standard tests for mold and fungal resistance. This technology has been combined with all our other boards and can be specified with moisture and mold resistant ready mixed joint compound and mold resistant fibre tape to greatly reduce the potential risk of mold problem.

M2TECH Accessories

Special M2TECH accessories include, Gyproc mold resistant fibre tape - a high strength, self-adhesive, moisture resistant mesh tape with an anti-microbial coating that scores a perfect

‘10’ rating in the ASTM D3273 mold test, and moisture and mold resistant ready mixed joint compound – a new formulation developed specifically for high moisture and mold-prone environments. Together with Gyproc Moisture and Mold Resistant board, they provide the ultimate protection for at-risk areas and buildings.

Gyproc Plasterboard Adhesive

Gyproc Plasterboard Adhesive is a gypsum based powder adhesive that is mixed with clean water and is used as a bonding agent to line bricks, blocks, concrete or sand and cement rendered walls with Gyproc plasterboards.

Gyproc Plasterboard Adhesive is used to bond a range of Gyproc plasterboards providing a smooth crack-free surface with a small cavity allowing for electrical cables and small pipes. It is not suitable for substrates exposed to moisture or for fixing plasterboards to ceilings.

Plasters

Gyproc now introduces skimming plasters designed to smooth ceilings and walls covering imperfections in the underlying levelling thus providing a smooth, uniform surface prior to decoration. These Gypsum based finishing plasters provide optimal surface smoothness and durable finishes to level Q4/L5 requirements.

Gyproc GypFine – Ultra Skim: Gypsum based plaster giving a versatile finish for skimming either plasterboard or masonry backgrounds. It doesn’t require priming – so saves both time and money and results in a smooth, white and easy to trowel plaster, with increased coverage and a usable time of 180 minutes, depending on site conditions.

Gyproc GypFine – Board Skim: Gypsum based plaster for skimming plasterboard walls and ceilings. Plaster smoothing will complement the Gyproc partitions and ceiling systems already in place and complete the drylining system.

Gyproc GypFine – Multi Skim: Gypsum Based plaster for skimming cementitious surfaces. These surfaces include walls and ceilings constructed from sand and cement render, fair face concrete, precast panels, etc.

Armstrong is a world-wide leader in the manufacturing and marketing of acoustical ceilings, walls and suspensions systems for commercial and residential applications. Armstrong ceiling systems are comprehensive solutions that improve the well-being in all areas (Offices, Health, Education etc..)

From performance to acoustical comfort

Acoustical treatment is not always sound absorption. The right acoustical environment is essential and the way to achieve this is to focus on: Intelligibility, Confidentiality and Concentration.

To meet acoustical regulations, it is generally sufficient to provide the performance measures in unoccupied spaces, without office equipment switched on. Acoustical regulations usually recommend values to be achieved for reverberation times (within a space) and sound insulation (between spaces or from outside the building). This approach isn’t satisfactory to meet the expectations of occupants anymore, particularly with the development of open spaces in offices and the increasing hearing problems of students in the education sector.

ARMSTRONG CEILINGS

On a day-to-day basis, any activity disturbs the initial acoustical balance, for example, group discussions, ringing phones, copier machines, music, open windows or road traffic noise. Occupants of an office, classroom, shop, hospital or any other space, need a comfortable and healthy environment to carry out their activity under the best conditions. The acoustic quality of a room in a building is governed by major design criteria which require close monitoring:

• Intelligibility - (I want to be understood)

• Confidentiality - (I do not want to be overheard)

• Concentration - (I do not want to be disturbed)

SAT Insulation Materials Industry LLC is network member of The Bayer Eco - commercial Building Program.

SAT DUCT pre-insulated panels consist of a sandwich structure of PIR (Polyisocyanurate) or Phenolic foam which is faced by an aluminum facing on both sides. SAT DUCT Panels can withstand extreme climatic conditions and as well as the normal indoor ductwork requirements they are regularly applied as on the rooftops on buildings in the Middle East where temperatures can exceed 55 degrees Centigrade.

In fact SAT DUCT can be used in any exposed air duct system in almost any environment. Phenolic foam board is quickly becoming the preferred option due to its superior fire/smoke emission performance over PIR and SAT Insulation Materials LLC are the only manufacturer of this product in the Middle East.

The panels come in various thicknesses, always meeting the special requirements of our clients and local building codes.

SAT DUCT PRE-INSULATED PANELS

SAT DUCT panels can be produced from 10mm up to 150mm thickness and there is also a range of options for the outer aluminum facings.

SAT DUCT dispenses with the need to separately apply costly insulation making the installation considerably less labour intensive and cheaper to install. SAT DUCT is extremely rigid and in most cases self supporting so the pre-formed ductwork requires considerable less support than galvanized iron (GI) duct. Another major benefit is that it can be erected in pieces up to four times larger than GI making the installation process quicker and cheaper. And, as mentioned previously, it doesn’t have to be insulated afterwards!

KNOPP Middle East was set up with the

mandate of servicing the dynamic Middle East

and South Asian markets as a total flooring

systems specialist. In a short time KNOPP

Middle East has participated in many prestigious

projects in the region's hospitality, academic,

commercial and civil aviation sectors.

Property developers, architects and contractors

are familiar with the complex problems of

floor laying. Difficult processing, poor strength

and lengthy drying out times often derail

scheduled planning resulting in construction

delays or even poor results. This is followed

by recriminations and claims for damages.

KNOPP has developed a comprehensive series

of screed additives namely its CONTOPP®,

and SYSTOPP™ ranges, that make laying

cement-based screeds simple. Whether your

flooring requirement is for quick ready-to-lay

or easy processing or to be as tough as granite

– you can always play it safe with KNOPP.

Our intelligent additive systems as well as our

all-in-one compound products help you

produce floating screeds and compound

screeds with an accelerated and calculable

ready-to-lay of between 2 and 16 days. Add to

that, integrated protection against residual

moisture and reduced shrinkage behaviour with

improved processing properties. Top it off with

Chloride-free, multifunctional and solvent-free

solutions and you have a winning solution.

KNOPP FLOORING SYSTEM APPROACHThe CONTOPP™ and SYSTOPP™ series embody superior product technology, which has been exported to over 24 countries worldwide. Today KNOPP has made a name for itself as a problem-solver for the sand and cement screed industry. For tough Middle Eastern conditions with high temperatures, high humidity, high salinity and scarcity of skilled and trained screed layers, KNOPP has developed special grades of its screed additives.

LEWIS® dovetailed steel sheeting is a rolled dovetail-shaped, self-bearing galvanised steel reinforcing sheet which is used for shuttering and reinforcing thin lightweight concrete or liquid screed floors. It is suitable to use on timber or steel floor framing and can even be fixed directly on top of existing timber floors without in most cases removing the floor boarding. The profile has optimized geometry as a result of which the concerted action between the LEWIS® dovetailed steel sheeting and the fine gravel concrete or liquid screed ensures the highest possible load-bearing capacity.

Used in a composite floor construction LEWIS® dovetailed metal decking provides a first class solution for fire protection, acoustic issues and Under Floor Heating & Cooling within floors.

LEWIS® metal decking solutions can be used in a varied range of projects from renovation and conversions to traditional new build, timber frame, off-site system building, modular building systems and mezzanine floors.

The LEWIS® composite floor consists of a special dovetail profiled rolled sheet

LEWIS® DOVETAILED STEEL SHEETING FOR COMPOSITE FLOOR SYSTEMS

which is finished with a thin layer of (lightweight) fine gravel concrete or liquid screed.

After the LEWIS® dovetailed sheeting is assembled a fine gravel concrete or liquid screed is applied over the sheets. During the curing of the concrete, the LEWIS® metal sheeting functions as permanent shuttering which transfers the weight of the concrete and the assembly load to the supporting structure. Once the concrete has cured, the LEWIS® dovetai led sheet ing and the concrete become as one forming a strong composite structurally sound floor deck. The finished thickness of a LEWIS® composite metal deck floor can be very thin (from 50 mm).

LEWIS® features• Thin floor thickness (from 50 mm)

• Low dead weight (from approx. 0.9 kN/m2)

• High permissible load Spans (centre to centre) up to max. 1500 mm

• High impact and airborne sound insulation Fire resistance up to 120 minutes
