What is Sagicor Sigma Global Funds?Sagicor Sigma Global Funds is a collective investment scheme that provides you with the flexibility of individual or combined portfolio investment, depending on your investment goals.
A Collective Investment Scheme is an investment instrument where the savings of
many individuals are pooled together in a Fund, and is managed by a professional
fund manager. Investors’ ownership in the fund is determined by the number of units
they hold. These investors are called unit holders. Collective Investment Schemes in
Jamaica are governed by The Securities (Collective Investment Schemes) Regulations,
2013 and are regulated by the Financial Services Commission (FSC), a government body
established to regulate the operations of certain financial institutions.
How does Sagicor Sigma Global Funds Work?At Sagicor Investments you have the flexibility of purchasing units from a suite of
eighteen (18) individual portfolios to meet any investment objective. Our minimum
unit purchase on Jamaican Dollar portfolios is JM$500 with the exception of Sigma Real
Estate. On our US Dollar portfolios the minimum purchase is US$50. The funds allow
investors of all sizes the opportunity to participate in a broad range of asset classes.

CONSERVATIVE FUNDSSigma Global Income (USD)An open-ended daily investment fund that provides liquidity for customers invested in a diversified portfolio of Government securities, placements and other short-term instruments denominated in United States dollars.
Sigma IncomeAn open-ended daily investment fund that provides liquidity for customers invested in a diversified portfolio of Government securities, placements and other short-term instruments denominated in Jamaican dollars.
Sigma Principal Protector (JMD)Jamaican Dollar denominated portfolio invested mainly in money market instruments, government securities and principal protected notes.
Sigma Principal Protector (USD)US Dollar denominated portfolio invested mainly in money market instruments, government securities and principal protected notes.

Sigma Global Equity (USD)This is largely an equities portfolio with fixed income instruments to provide liquidity. Invested in equities listed on recognised global exchanges.
Sigma Global Venture Mainly equity based Jamaican Dollar and United States Dollar securities. These equity-based securities are local and global equity holdings including listed shares, private ventures, equity-linked notes, exchange traded funds or convertible securities.

Q. Can I add a name(s) or delete a name(s) from my investments?
A. Names can be added to existing unit trust accounts however, for removal of names the account has to be closed and a new account opened.
Q. Are the returns guaranteed?
A. Performance over the past ten years shows a consistent level of return which has outperformed most market benchmarks, making Sagicor Sigma Global Funds one of the top performing funds in Jamaica and the Caribbean. However, the returns are not guaranteed. The value of the portfolio’s unit price may go up or down and the value of an investment in a portfolio may be greater or lesser than the initial investment in the Portfolio.
Q. Is income earned in the fund taxable?
A. The Sigma Global Venture, Sigma Global Equity, Sigma Equity portfolios are tax-free, but all funds are tax-free if held for over five years (maximum investment of J$1M or equivalent per year).
Q. Can I use my investment in the collective investment scheme as security/collateral?
A. All Sigma Global Funds can be used as collateral with the exception of the Real Estate Fund (conditions apply). To do so, your financial institution must submit a letter requesting the assignment of funds in their favour. If you have a joint account, all persons will have to sign giving permission for the assignment. A fee is charged for this service.
Q. How soon after each investment can I encash my units?
A. Investors can encash at anytime, a 4% penalty is applied if not kept for the minimum holding period (90 days), with the exception of Sigma Real Estate which is three years. There is no holding period for the Sigma Income, Sigma Principal Protector nor Sigma Global Income portfolios.
Q. Do the Sigma Global Funds charge investors any fees?
A. There are no up front fees. However there is a penalty for encashment before the minimum holding period on applicable funds.
Q. How do I exit or cash out of the collective investment scheme?
A. You are required to sign a Redemption form to sell the units.
