SILHOUETTE PRACTICE SHOTS

AFTER BRAIN STORMING OUR IDEAS FOR OUR MUSIC VIDEO AND BEGINNING OUR STORYBOARD, WE DECIDED THAT ONE OF THE FEATURES WE FEEL WOULD BE

EFFECTIVE TO USE IS THE USE OF SILHOUETTES. WE ARE CONSIDERING USING SILHOUETTES OF ARE ACTORS SO WE DECIDED TO TAKE SOME PRACTISE SHOTS SO

THAT WE COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO CREATE A GOOD SILHOUETTE USING LIGHTING.

• Here are some examples of effective silhouettes used in Music Videos:

FIRST ATTEMPT

• In this attempt we used a white back ground and bright lighting. We found that the silhouettes created were faint and more of a shadow. It was also hard to capture the image of the silhouette without including the model in the photos as she had to be quite close to the wall.

• We then decided to try a second attempt making some alterations to our set.

SECOND ATTEMPT

• In the second attempt we used a darker background and lower, dimmer lighting. We also used objects such as an umbrella and a toy gun and we found that the silhouettes created were much more effective as they were much darker and thicker.

• When creating silhouettes for our final piece we will replicate this technique, but use higher quality camera as these photos were captured using iPhone cameras.
