Silver Jubilee Report DAV Bhilai

Sir the completion of twenty five years is indeed a major milestone in the

life of an educational institution it is well known to everybody that DAV is

the oldest educational institution having its history since 1886 when it was

started in United India at Lahore to promote the principles and Philosophy

of the great Saint, Philosopher, Philanthropist and founder of Arya Samaj

Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati after his Nirvana.

The first Principal of DAV School Lahore Mahatma Hans Raj Ji later became

the first Principal of DAV College and also the first President of DAV College

Managing Committee.

He took the responsibilities to carry on the legacy of Swami Dayanand Ji.

He is considered a devoted and committed follower of Swami Dayanand ji

and never took even a single paise for his services to DAV.

There is a notion that DAV is a religious organization but I would like to

enlighten you that this concept about DAV is wrong, rather it is a social

organization contributing for the cause and welfare of the countrymen. Had

it been like that the Chief Justice of Supreme Court Shri Mehr Chand

Mahajan, the High Court Judges Justice R.N.Mittal, Justice K.L.Kapoor and

many Administrator,

Governor of States, the Controller General of India after retirement would

not have held the prestigious position in the DAV College Managing

Committee. Here I would like to apprise you that DAV is a charitable

organization having no patronage for any religion.

The term DAV stands for Dayanand Anglo Vedic where in Dayanand and

Vedic are two permanent pillars and signifies the knowledge and the

scientific approach. The term Anglo stands for Contemporary needs of the

Society. DAV has always been alive to the needs of the Society for various

social causes. After 1942 Quit India Movement when all important leaders

were taken into prison, Swami Shradhanand Ji took the command and led

the freedom struggle. It is extremely noteworthy that DAV considers it to

be its duty to nurture its students as sensitive people with strong values,

who will leverage their individual achievements to strengthen the fabric of

the community, the nation and the planet. In the recent time, various

activities like Operation Boond to create awareness to save water,

the project blood donation to save the lives,

the Swatchata Abhiyan have been organized at different intervals to

support and make all such govt: projects

successful. Acknowledging the contribution of DAV in the development of

Society Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji in his last meeting with

DAVians at Nehru Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on 14/02/2016 gave a call to

DAVians to join hands with the govt: to clean the holy river the Ganges.

DAV whole heartedly accepted the call of Prime Minister. In time of crisis

DAV came forward to redress the difficulties and in the series it has

contributed Rs.1,11,11,111/- to the C.M. Relief fund at the time of Uttar

Kashi earthquake and later Rs.2 crores to P.M. relief fund to curb the

effects of devastating flood of Uttarakhand.

Sir DAV has been standing for the cause and welfare of the Society with full

dignity and courage since 129 years. That’s why the term Anglo should not

be accepted in its literary meaning rather be taken in terms of progress and

alertness.

DAV Hudco, as one of the units , is also carrying the same legacy and with

the support of parents, teachers, neighbours, government and all its nears

and dears we have completed 25 years journey successfully. Right from

1989 with 39 students and 8 staff it started in the building of B.S.P. Sector –

7 School and shifted to the new building consisting 80 rooms, 16 Labs, 6

halls, 2 MP Halls 4 administrative room with 149 staff and 2967 students

having eventful glorious success history. DAV Hudco has reached every

corner of the world through its students serving in different capacity.

Students passed from this School are serving in almost all govt./semi govt.

and multinational company in India and abroad. All of us should remember

what Swami Vivekanand had said as to the ideals of education: (I quote)’

We want that education by which character is formed , strength of mind is

increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one’s

own feet’ (unquote). It is in the ennobling process of character-building

through education that we produce great academicians, scientists,

statesmen and administrators, technological experts, successful

industrialists, good sports person and eminent artists, that is to say,

successful and committed citizens and ultimately, good human beings.

They are serving honestly keeping the flag of DAV and its value high.

In the beginning construction of the building started with a soft loan of Rs.20 lacs and that too used to be released on submission of a report of progress of civil work. The paucity of fund posing difficulties in the path of development. My staff who were continuing since then apprised that during the rainy season the school building initially constructed with 09 rooms used to become an island and they were helping the children to

cross over the water logged area by carrying them in their lap.

It was Shri O.P.Arora, the then Principal

who did not get discouraged but kept on working day and night defeating the weather condition and all hurdles to raise the building. DAV is blessed with quality teachers and so with the help of them school started writing its success story. A time came when teachers and staff started leaving school for better salary. Gradually we could overcome the situation. Sir our philosophy is to dispel darkness and following this philosophy we could make it possible to illuminate the children of poor families with the

light of knowledge. It never made it a gateway for the students of affluent family only. Thus we at DAV feel that it is our duty not only to seek to achieve universal education but also take a pledge to see that education does indeed become universal in our country, otherwise those who are not able to enjoy the facilities of education will be unable to enjoy the fruits of development The School is known to have been discharging its duties in ample measure. Keeping in mind the overall development of a child, the school provides ample facilities in various fields like Dance, Music, Sports and Crafts as it is obvious from the achievements they have made. On one side we have the remarkable achievements of Ms.Rini Sabbarwal associated with renowned Choreographer, Director and Actor Prabhu Deva,

Ms.Rituparna Sengupta, Ms.Shagun Pari, Ms.Anamika Mishra & Ms.Jhanvi Choubey who have brought laurels to our School with their outstanding national level performances whereas on the other side we have Ms.Smriti Kaneria who

got a place in Common Wealth Games in Cycle Polo and represented the Country. We have Mast. Akshay Behera who is the goal keeper of Chhattisgarh Hockey Team, Mast.Akash Bohare & Mast.Aqueeb Iraqui who have registered their name in U/19 Cricket team.

Professionally also the students of this School are occupying very good positions in almost all multinational Companies and proved their talent. It is not so that our students have written their success story in the field of Engineering and Medical only but also in the field of Business, Film making, Aviation, Law, Modeling, Documentary and many more. They have proved that Will and determination gives opportunity to fly which leads to one’s destination and ultimately writes the biography of success. It was a moment of pride that the School was given the first rank amongst

all day schools of Chhattisgarh for two consecutive years i.e. 2013 & 2014

and also first in Bhilai City for 2013, 2014 & 2015 by a renowned national

Human Development magazine “EDUCATION WORLD” assessing schools

performance on 14 different parameters. Further CBSE honoured the

Principal (myself)

with the prestigious ‘Best Mentors Award for the year 2014’ given by the

then Human Resource Minister Madam Smriti Zubin Irani.

We would also like to apprise you that for academic excellence we keep

conducting different competitive examination and in the last few years our

students have been selected for many national level competitions like

Metallurgy Quiz organized by Indian Institute of Metals, Akhil Bharatiya

Rashtra Bhasha Competition etc.

Career counseling programmes are conducted often so that the children get acquainted with various options in deciding their career. As a part of holistic development we conduct Yoga & Hawan which is a regular routine and is the need of hour in this fast paced competitive world.

I extend my special thanks to the School Managing Committee who always stood with me for the progress of school in providing best class of

education to the students. I feel proud to say that in the next year the school will become the smart school, the first school of the city. In the coming years we are committed to provide 3D virtual hall where the

students can learn Science, Maths and Geography with more clarity. Well

we have in our priority list – Digitalised Library, Digital Classrooms replacing

the hard copy of text books, Distance learning support by teachers to their

students when they are at their home, well developed play ground,

Swimming Pool, an Auditorium a separate building for the students of

Nursery to Class Upper KG and many more of such nature which makes the

teaching learning interesting and also to make the school compatible for

the changes expected in the coming years.

In this journey of 25 years I can not forget the contribution of Late Shri

B.R.Jain Ji, Late Shri J.L.Grover Ji, Late Shri Ravi Arya (Ex-MLA), Late Shri

H.B.Sah, Late Bhoomitra Gupta Ji. Shri S.K.Jhamb Ji, Shri Vijay Kumar Gupta

Ji, Shri N.Mohapatra Ji (Director Personnel), SAIL H/Q) the then GM(HRD) in

capacity of Chairman LMC, Shri R.K.Sharma Ji (ED-Personnel SAIL), Shri

Harish Bansal, Shri Rastogi, Shri B.K.Chaturvedi, Shri Chopra the then Estate

Manager, B.S.P. and many more who have directly or indirectly helped in

the progress of School since beginning.

The School requires active support of Parents for its positive vertical progress and for that I can not forget the contribution of Shri R.S.N.Murthy Ji who not only helped the Management to take a positive note of progress but worked hard to execute the same also. I extend my special thanks to the parents who always walk with us shoulder to shoulder and extend unconditional support to sail the boat of this School in time of turbulence. Hats off to them for their contribution for raising the flag of the School high and also to their wards for spreading the network of DAV Public School,

Hudco across the world.

It would be unjust on my part if I forget my mentor Shri O.P.Arora Ji, the first Principal and the then Regional Director who took pain during the initial period to raise the School. His commitment and expertise has always impressed and encouraged me. I am thankful to Sri Surendra Gupta Ji and Mr Alok Srivastava who have been encouraging the students by sponsoring prizes in the recognition of their result. I extend my special thanks to the School Managing Committee who always stood with me for the progress of school in providing best class of

education to the students. I feel proud to say that in the next year the school will become the smart school, the first school of the city. I on behalf of entire DAV fraternity, once again extend my heartiest thanks

to Hon’ble Sri Prem Praksh Pandey Ji , for his benign presence to make the
