Parents:
Please remember that we must have a note sent in or e-mailed to the
registrar when your student has missed school. The clinic is being
overrun with students that come back to school after several days of
absences without this information. Remember, a student with a “failed
screening” should not be on campus. That student would require one
of three options before returning.
Those options (for review), are 1. A negative covid test, 2. An alternate
diagnosis from your doctor, or 3. A ten-day quarantine. Please review this information on the
PISD web site or call me with questions.
Vision and hearing screens for Pre-K, Kindergarten, First and Third graders have been done for
on campus learners. If you received a referral for an eye or hearing exam (because your
student failed those screenings), it is important that you return those referrals to me.
Again, questions concerning this can be addressed to me during school hours.

This school year has flown by, and I know our
stars are looking forward to summer break.
Activities, camps, parks, lessons, sports, and
vacations are just some of the many things that
will keep our summers packed. The last cycle of
lessons have focused on teaching our students
how to 1) recognize deceptive behavior, 2) trust
our feelings, and 3) build self-confidence. I encourage students to have fun this summer, but
also remember their personal safety rule.
I am proud of what our students and staff have accomplished this year. They have shown much
growth and resiliency.
Your Caring Counselor,
Ms. Chapman
Thank you to everyone who supported the library through the
online book fair. I don't have the final numbers yet, but it was
definitely a success!
Just a reminder that all library books will be due by Friday, May 14,
2021. Books that have been damaged or lost will need to be paid
for by sending in a check payable to Silverlake Elementary (please
include DL number) or cash in the exact amount (I cannot make
change.)
Summer time is just around the corner. Information about the public library's summer reading
program will be sent home closer to the end of school. Also, students in third and fourth
(fifth also) grade have the option to participate in the Bluebonnet Reading Program. Look for
information on this program coming home after the STAAR test.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing summer. Remember to read, read, read!
Happy reading,
DeAna Henderson

Hello Silverlake families!
Below are answers to some music FAQs.
What safety precautions are being taken for in-person learners?
We will be quietly singing - everyone will wear masks the entire class
Students are socially distanced in assigned seats
Students use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the room
What are the music expectations for virtual learners?
I will post the weekly Seesaw activity every Friday. (Responses can be completed
any day of the week - scheduled PEAMS day does not matter.)
Please send responses by the following Thursday at 4 pm – they will be archived
(closed for responses) after the written due date.
Music activities can be found by clicking your child’s name + picture/avatar in the
top left-hand corner and selecting the “music” class tab in the drop down.
IF YOU DON’T SEE AN ACTIVITY: refresh the page, log out/log back in
Completion of Seesaw activities will determine the nine weeks grade for virtual
students
*As stated in the instructions – completing the music activities posted on Seesaw are
OPTIONAL for in-person learners.
Will there be music programs or performances this year?
The policy given by the Pearland ISD Fine Arts department, was that there will be no
elementary performances until further notice.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions! Thanks for your continued support.

As the year ends, Silverlake artists have continued to do a wonderful job of learning to
be creative. I am always impressed by the creative minds of Silverlake artists! As a
reminder, if you are a Remote learner, a Seesaw activity will be posted. Students have
a week to complete assignment; completion of Seesaw activities will determine the
nine weeks grade. Assignments will then be archived, closed for responses. If you do
not see an activity please try refreshing the page, or try to log out/log back in, per
technology troubleshooting tips. In school learners do not need to complete
assignments. They will receive assignment during their PEAMS rotation.
Thank you for your continued support!
