Course Description

Italian 1010 is an entry-level, self-study course. In this class students will be offered the opportunity to learn basic verbal communication skills in Italian, as well as different aspects of the Italian culture. Students will also learn every-day vocabulary, including likes, dislikes, weather, food, and greetings.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, you should be able to engage in basic conversations in Italian, including:

1. Describing where you are from, what you study, and what you do. 2. Ask for directions on how to get to a specific geographical location. 3. Ask about a product, its cost, and whether you can try it (on). 4. Discuss the weather and any implication it may have on travel.

Students are required to complete all courses for which they are registered by the end of the semester. In some cases, a student may be unable to complete all of the coursework because of extenuating circumstances, but not due to poor performance or to retain financial aid. In the case of a drill or real emergency, classes will be notified to evacuate the building by the sound of the fire/emergency alarm system or by a building representative. In the event of a

disaster that may interfere with either notification, evacuate as the situation dictates (i.e., in an earthquake when shaking ceases or immediately when a fire is discovered). Turn off computers and take any personal items with you. Elevators should not be used; instead, use the closest stairs.
