SimGas Gesi-Shamba rural biogas digester
Biogas is the most appropriate technology for small farmers in subtropical and tropical regions to produce gas for cooking and lightning and use as an excellent fertilizer to improve their food production. Basis for the production of biogas is an anaerobic digestion of a sufficient amount of organic material, be it cow dung, pig manure, human excrements or crop and kitchen residues. Biogas technology is well known and widely used in China and India, but many biogas projects worldwide fail after projects expire due to the fact that the construction of biogas plants is often too time consuming to be done economically. This is why the pre-fabrication of modular designed small digesters like the SimGas biogas digester, which can be easily transported and installed, is a brilliant idea to overcome these obstacles, particularly as the system price is lower than for conventional biogas plants.
