The mating of Stop & Stare to Lookout is as close to a sure thing as you are going to get the opportunity to purchase in the cattle business. They work in the show ring; we have taken 2 full sibs to Louisville in 2012 and 2 more again in 2014 and won 3 divisions and one reserve division. That may be the first time that has ever happened in Simmental history. They light up the sale ring. The three females that made the Louisville strings sold through the Jewels of the Northland sale for $45,000 to Circle M Farms, TX; $30,000 to NLC Simmentals, SD; and $22,000 to Dale Phelps, OH. Five Stop And Stare SimAngus™ open heifers averaged $22,000 in the recent Jewels sale. The forth full sib, HILB Olympus B27U, won Division II in Louisville this past fall, sells Monday night in “The One” sale in Denver as Lot 31. Bernadette cow got herself going when BWL Hard Core won Denver in 2011 and then we flushed her to Steel Force which the heifers were good and the bulls were nice. But I thought Broker with the H25 cow family could take the offspring to a new level with the best of both worlds. 19S had a very prestigious show career which included several Supreme Champion honors, among them the Iowa State Fair and American Royal. We were so impressed with her that we purchased her privately for $50,000 back when that was a lot of money! She has developed into the powerful donor cow we had envisioned. From her sleek front and flat shoulder all the way to her picture perfect udder and massive hip, she is ideal in her phenotype. Rarely do you find a purebred Simmental with this much bone combined with perfect structure and soundness. To date, we have only sold three heifer out of her. Her first natural calf was a $21,000 Avalanche going to Eric Gerdes. If there is a better, more proven and consistent SimAngus™ mating than 1245 and Steel Force, I am not aware of it. There is certainly no guess work in this mating! Kent Reinhart has been buying these embryos for several years now. In 2010, he sold X325 to Standidge for $15,000. She has a stellar show career for them including a Reserve Division Champion at the Royal. In 2011, he sold Y45 Fantastic to Jake Bloomberg. Among her honors was Grand Champion Percentage Female at the 2012 NAILE. In 2013, he had two heifers, one selling for $8,000 and A72 selling for $28,000 to Forest Brook. Jason Farmer sold two outstanding heifers for $10,000 and $8,750. We sold a tremendous bred heifer, X903, in the 2011 GCC Classic for $8,000. Travis Simmentals had a past Reserve Calf Champion at the Illinois State Fair with yet another full sibling. We have retained four full siblings in our herd and all are front pasture cows that could be flushed. We haven’t had a bull calf in a while but the ones we have had have been equally as good averaging over $5,000 with a top of $8,000 in the 2011 GCC Grass to Grid Sale. There is certainly no guess work in this mating! Before we discovered how good she worked with Steel Force, we had several other very successful matings. A Meyer daughter was Grand Champion at Keystone in 2010 for Anvil Acres as a calf. Bred Angus, a New Look daughter sold for $15,000 for Rosanky’s and a Legend daughter brought $8,000 at a past Duff sale. However, for the past several years, we only flushed her to Steel Force, as the consistent quality at a very high level, is just something quite rare. Sad to say but 1245’s very productive career is about over. guaranteed these will be the last embryos sold out of her at public auction. These embryos have brought up to $1,500 in past Denver sales. Dew The Stroke has shown us time, and time again why she still remains at the top of our donor pen here at C&C Farms. She has an unmatched ability to stamp her progeny with nearly flawless front ends and a great overall dimension.
