Welcome to the annual Premium Beef Bull Sale here in the heart of Manitoba cattle country. This is one of the longest running bull sales in Manitoba with the core group of breeders staying the same since the sales inception. This annual event is held in the Beautiful Plains Ag building in Neepewa. This year as I sit down to write sales management comments I think back over the last 10 years how much the cattle industry has been through and how families have had to buckle down and be strong to survive. That true grit will power has put us in the place we are today and wow it was worth the wait! We are now in a time with record high prices and great demand! It will be a joy for our great commercial customers to purchase the bull of their choice this year with the optimism of great years to come.
Every year I write this for Premium Beef I usually break it down by consignors and say a little bit about each one. That’s not going to happen this year. Collectively Schweitzer Simmentals, Northern Light Simmentals, Twin Brae Simmentals, Workman Farms, RKT Simmentals, Pizzey Simmentals/Foxy Lady Cattle Co, Berts NR Simmentals have wowed myself and Darren! This is bar none the greatest set of bulls ever offered in this sale! We have seen great commercial and elite Breeder Bulls at every one of these operations.
Over the last 3 years Premium Beef has become a sale that has had a bunch of attention nation wide and I truly believe with the quality on offer this year this will become a North American wide event! With nearly 100 bulls on offer the drive will be worth it. This sale will have a great selection of every strain of Simmental from a group of long standing Manitoba breeders. Herd bull shopping time is here and this set of bulls will be ready to go to work for you as soon as the gavel drops. SBSF BLACK LIGHTNING 59B-One of the most complete black bulls that we have ever sold.-“Black Lightning” has a really nice hair coat and good feet & legs.-He is the result of the mating between Romano x Jahari, Full Fleck breeding and a solid polled, black NAC Tanner cow, genetics that clicked amazingly.-A bull that ranked 2nd for weaning in the bull pen showing us he was no slouch.-“Black Lightning” had an 82lb birth weight and still went on to excel in performance. He is above average in almost all areas of his EPDs.-Take a good look at this bull, he won’t disappoint you.

Welcome again to the Premium Beef Sale from the Workmans. We work hard to raise maternally strong bulls that will produce those sought after replacement females and market topping male calves.
The bulls have been fed a steam rolled ration made up of 90% oats and 10% barley supplied by Master Feeds.
I know it’s a cliché, but this is the best group of bulls from top to bottom that we have ever offered for sale. Introducing a powerful group sired by MRL To The Max 70Z for your evaluation, again this year a strong group sired by MRL Destination 91Y which includes 3 full brothers to our high sellers from a year ago and our first offering sired by the $75,000 Red Mountain. We also have a very good selection of bulls sired by our walking herd sires, Kosmo, Wheatland Bull 15X and Moore’ Tank 108Y.
We did some poll testing early so those results are in the catalog with more sent later so those results pending. They are thick, well muscled, good haired, are very maternal by their EPDs and many have the added bonus of being homo polled.

Dam is moderate framed, good uddered with small teats. She has a full brother on the ground and he is showing a lot of promise already. Buckingham is impressive. He is really well put together in a package hard to fault. He is smooth walking, loose hided with a fantastic hair coat. We present to you a solution for your heifer pen. Brigs had a modest 86lb birth weight out of a Tomahawk and Conquest dam. He is well put together and very much resembles his sire at that age. We had purchased PWK Wise Guy from Workman Farms at this sale a few years back to use on our heifer pen. It was very successful and we were impressed by the ease of calving and the aggressiveness, so we used him on some older cows as well with great results. This bull is heifer approved.

A long bodied, blaze face bull off the high selling bull a few years ago to North Hill Simmentals. We really like these 14Z calves and will definitely have more of them next year. His mother is colored just like him with a beautiful udder.

Solid red from black parents, 47B is an amazing bull! I absolutely love his spring of rib, wide top and big hip. We have raised a lot of good sons of Trustin over the years but I think 47B is my favorite. I love to watch him move out and see that loose hided look when he strides out. One of the thickest bulls we have raised with huge testicles. 47B is a bull we will use in our program in the future! We would like to retain semen for in herd use.

A very nice fronted bull with a small head that is soft sided and has great depth of body. His dam is a black blaze faced cow with a nice udder. She has had two heifers that sold through the Harvest Hoedown sale and this will be her fifth bull to sell at Premium Beef. A good bull from a good cow always marks high in my book!

Full Fleckvieh. 59B is one of the best Rogar sons we have every brought to town! A full brother sold to Kevin Smith in Ontario a few years back that was admired by many at that sale. 59B’s dam is probably our best Full Fleckvieh cow with a beautiful udder. Clean front end and that beautiful dark red haircoat with big goggles. I am very high on this calf and will be keeping some semen on him to use in our herd. 59B has an amazing amount of depth, length and top. I can’t wait to see where this guy ends up and excited to use him ourselves!
