Simple Guide to App MarketingBy Fito BenitezRelationships [email protected]: 050 368 3340Sk: fito.benitez
“Instead of one-way interruption, app marketing is
all about delivering useful content at just the precise
moment that a buyer needs it.” – David Meerman Scott
BEFORE
1. Make a marketing plan. Communicate a strong value
proposition. Competitive analysis. Define target customers
and KPIs. Select channels accordingly. Price suitably.
2. Have a killer website. Optimization. Keywords. Analytics. Lead generation. QR downloads. Engaging content (video). 3rd
party reviews. Blog & social news.
3. Add app analytics to learn about app store
analytics, user behaviors, and to track campaign results. Do it
way before launch.
4. Drive user engagement by
developing in-app (communicating) and push messages (stay in contact). Context matters a lot for your
messages.
5. Start building a community. Find early-adopters and create a conversation. Learn from their feedback. A Facebook
Page is a great place to do it!
6. ASO - App Store Optimization. Objectives are traffic and ranking high. Keywords, differentiate from
competitors. Metadata - icons, screenshots, texts, updates.
6. Earned Media - Influencers. Compile a list of related bloggers, review sites, press, etc. Connect with them and ask for reviews. Incentivize. Start early
but specially important at launch.
7. Marketing automation tools. Try and test and get ready for launch. Email marketing. SoMe management. Other toolbox (banners, Facebook tabs, etc.)
LAUNCH
8. Cross-channel campaign. Add incentives at each stage of the funnel. Implement A/B testing. Bought media is critical at this stage. AdDuplex is a fair deal for starters with low budget!
9. Monitor & tweak. Measure each bought
media channel and improve in real-time.
AFTER
10. Redefine strategy. Based on demographic, behavior and attribution
findings. Keep optimizing.
11. Version updates. Keep improving based on analytics, crash reports and feedback. And do it
regularly.
12. Owned and Earned Media. Keep blogging and connecting.
Take care of earned relationships.
13. Regular campaigns. Schedule at least 4 campaigns
a year. Use bought media. Look out for marketing
cooperations!
13. Add good karma! Always try in all you do. And this world seems to need it!
May the force be with you!
Want to have a word on anything? Don’t be shy!
