Our class will be having a Valentine’s
Celebration on _________________________.
We will be doing an optional card exchange. • Students can either make or purchase cards to give to their friends. • We have ________ friends in our class. • We have ____ girls and ____ boys in class, but we strongly suggest the students do cards
that they like so there is not need to do different. • Please only address the cards as from, it makes it much easier to hand them out quickly.
You will not be receiving a list of student names. • Treats can be handed out along with the cards. These will not be eaten during class. • Please send the cards and treats in on ___________________________.
We are also looking for some treats.
We are looking for store bought food. Items could include:

Mail Myself To You Poem and Project
We do this poem every Valentine’s Day and actually mail them to our families! I collect real stamps and use those instead of the clipart, but I provided a clipart just in case. One small roll of Valentines paper will suffice for the paper to wrap around the body (or use scrapbook paper that is pink.) Have fun and enjoy!

All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten.
Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at preschool.
These are the things I learned:
Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat. Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life--learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.
Be aware of wonder.
Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up
and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that. And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned
--the biggest word of all--LOOK.
Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation.
Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.
Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or your government or
your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think what a better world it would be if we all--the whole world—
had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap.
And it is still true, no matter how old you are—
when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.
--Robert Fulghum

Limpari nuestro propio desorden. No agarar cosas que no nos pertenecen.
Pedir disculpas.
Siempre estar consiente y pensativo.
-- Robert Fulgham

Class Coloring Book
Make a class coloring book with these fun pages.
Teacher completes the cover. (I like to put a class photo.)
Give each student a writing page. Have the students write what they are thankful for and draw a picture in black crayon or marker. Demonstrate drawing a coloring page – leaving
lots of wide areas to color in.
Put the book together and copy/staple together into a class book for each child. Send home for them to read and color.

December Family Project
December is a time to celebrate for many reasons. So let’s do this month’s family project learn about how people celebrate
all over the world!
Included with this page is a blank piece of paper. Please select a country and research how they celebrate in December in that part of the world. Please consider holidays, food, festivities, and traditions
when making your poster. You can draw, print pictures, or include any artifacts you may have to share with the class. I would also highly
recommend you do a place that has some meaning for you.
Please return your project to school by:

Please note, although many cultural traditions are based on religious beliefs, we do not discuss any religious backgrounds or meanings. Please feel free to tell me about them but those cannot be discussed in class.
We will, however, talk about different celebrations and cultural traditions celebrated in December, which is a part of our Social Studies standards given to us by the state. Please let me know if you have any concerns with this.
And also know that the information included on this page is for my reference only and will not be shared specifically with the students. I will set a classroom culture of acceptance for whatever you believe and I also expect the students to do the same. (For example, if your student believes in a certain person or tradition, I will not allow anyone to disrespect their belief or to call it into question by any means.)
Thank you for taking the time to let me know. Please feel free to continue on the back or call if you need!
