The Black Box nature of the RA80/90 makes it possible to install the system in areas where space is limited connected to the seperate operator unit.

Crystal sharp 17 or 19” color flatscreen monitors provide bright colors and extra wide viewing angle 170o in all directions.

Simrad has utilised its strong R&D pedigree to create a'Black Box' system that offers powerful functionality, choice and ease of installation.

The RA80/90 series uses a 17 inch Simrad CF monitorand a 19-inch is used in the RA90 series. Dual station functionality is catered for using a combination of monitorsand operator stations running from single scanner input.

The RA80 is available in several different configurationsmaking it a flexible system suitable for a wide range of vessel applications.

Radar monitor

The basic system consists of processor unit,operation unit, scanner and display. Thissystem provides three interface ports for

NMEA in and out communication, outputfor VDR and also EPA. As an option there is interfaces for Gyro/Log, AIS and ATA.

Same as the basic system with an additionalprocessor unit, operation unit and display.connected via the remote line. This gives a

master – slave installation with independentradar operation on the slave unit. The videoinformation is received from the master unit.

Two systems operating on their own, with a connection between them makes it possiblefor one system to get access to the scanner on

the other system. This is operated via a menuselection. Two radar systems with full inte-gration gives full functionality.

Joystick menu operationSimple control of all radar functions withthe joystick lever. Radar set-up and naviga-tion information clearly displayed in themenu area of the screen.

Full colour radar displayRadar echo strength is shown in differentcolours, making it simple to differentiatestrong or weak targets.

Night display modeSwitching to the night mode changes the colours, reducing the brightness, combined with the fully dimmable monitor, safe night operation is possible. Using the Parallel Index lines bearing and distances can be measured.

Off-centre display modeUsing the Off-centre function it is possible to display more details in front of the vessel.Here shown with Range rings enabled.

Preset TuningThree presets enable rapid tuning for differentconditions. Coastal Navigation, Open SeaNavigation and Harbor modes optimise the radar settings and give the best picture possible.

Standard radar in night modeVarious modes of operation can be selected from the menu. Head Up, North Up, CourseUp and True Motion. Changing the modes isonly a single dedicated button press.

Simrad RA80 seriesThe RA83P uses a 6 kW scanner offering a 64nm

range whilst the RA84P comes with the 12 kW scanner, which has a range of 72nm. The RA85P utilises the powerful 25 kW scanner for a maximum range of 96nm. All scanners have 24rpm rotation. The Simrad RA80 series is offered with 17” screens.

Simrad RA90 seriesThe three models in the RA90 series has exactly

the same features as the RA80 series but is delivered with 19” screens.

• Fully compliant with IMO carriage requirements for ships less than 10,000 gross tons.

• Best suited for ocean going mid-size vessels.• Select from 6kW, 12 kW or 25 kW power output,

4 ft or 6 ft type aerial.• Built-in performance monitor for IMO version

This is a mandatory item for an IMO radar system. A new low cost yet highly reliable performance monitor is supplied as standard on the IMO versions (P).

ATA FunctionsA ten target manual acquisition with auto-matic tracking mini ARPA. Shown trackingtwo targets with the ATA target data in the menu and info section of the display.
