IWC leaves it's footprint in Sofia Zoo, Our last charity deed for 2019 is for sure going to be a lasting one. As one enters Sofia Zoo through the

main entrance, the first sight is a beautiful floating wooden house on the lake and a sign with the logo of the IWC.

Our organisation is the proud sponsor of the first of it's kind floating bird house on the lake of Sofia Zoo. We gathered together for a short opening ceremony, the Director of the Zoo Mr. Dobromir Borislavov expressed his gratitude and the delight of visitors and the Mayor of Sofia. He highlighted the importance of the floating house in the winter months, as it will keep the birds warm. He was hoping that a new big family of rare black swans will take residence there and as he said that they miraculously appeared infront of the house. We were thrilled and admired the beautiful birds.

The event was spiced up with Japanese origami birds made by IWC member Miwako Note and a zoo guided tour specially for us, including a fascinating feeding demonstration of some reptiles.

A memorable day with a lasting footprint of the IWC in Sofia Zoo.

VALENTINE’S DAY IS the day of love. More than any other day of the year, romantic couples shower their better half with gifts and tokens of appreciation.

Much about Valentine’s Day is well known. The handwritten cards, chocolate hearts, and red roses are all staples of the annual tradition, recognized easily at any convenience store. However, much about the holiday and how it came to be remains a mystery, details lost to time and transformed as romantics retold history.

Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not (by choice, fate, or otherwise), our ability to love has connected humans for centuries—from the Romans to today. Sure we may no longer whip each other with sacrificial hides, but we all enjoy treating (and being treated by) those we love.

14 February - VALENTINE’S DAY

14 February - Day of St. Trifon ZarezanOn the 14th of February Bulgarians celebrate the day of St. Trifon Zarezan. The roots of

this holiday are hidden in the far distant past and probably is related to the Thracian god of the wine – Dionysius. The pagan customs messed with the Orthodox traditions and people invented an amusing legend about Trifon Zarezan.

He was a common wine-grower. One day he went to his vineyard to cut the vine outgrowths. He met his sister Virgin Mary and joked with her for that she had an illegitimate child. She decided to punish him. Virgin Mary went to Trifon’s wife and told her that Trifon had cut his nose. His wife rushed towards the vineyard to help hers husband but she saw he is fine. The woman told him what happened and Trifon started laughing. He said that this is impossible, but when he waved with a hand he really cut his hose with the pruning-knife. This accident gave him his nickname – “Zarezan” which means “truncated”. Real St. Trifon died as a martyr during the roman persecution over the Christians. But people didn’t want to relate his name with sadness and pain, so they crowned him with the nimbus of the wine and rejoicing.

Your authoritative non-government organization, under the leadership of Albena Jones, in the past 2019, financed especially important activities for FCCMDF, "SVETLINA", FCCMDF, "NADEJDA", village Petrovo, the activities carried out through the program "Social-therapeutic environment in the social service-chance to participate in the cultural life of the local community. "

Guaranteeing high quality of care for social care users is related to the implementation of innovative approaches and mediation-good practice made possible by us, through your generous and unreserved assistance in providing adequate psycho-social care for people with mental disorders.

The attracted highly qualified external specialists - clinical psychologist from the Medical Academy, Sofia, psychiatrist from the Center for Mental Health - Blagoevgrad, music therapist / special educator / and art therapist, on the basis of successful partnership with the CF of IWC, in order to guarantee adequate and urgent support, is evidence of action taken for the benefit of people who are undeservedly rejected for difference.

The integration of mentally ill people in social services, overcoming the understanding that they are not embedded in society, can only be successful if the social institution has good face-to-face to the development, face-to-face partners to the problems of people who can and should live in relationship with others.

Through your activities, you are demonstrating that civil society mediation plays a special role in the social inclusion of people at risk.

We will not forget your visit, in May of the last year - kind, sincere, warm and sunny, with a smile and a stated readiness for support, on the way to the common goal - to give a chance to the users of social services in the village Petrovo, for adequate support in an initiative-stimulating environment.

The beautiful and comfortable clothes that you donated made them happy, helped their personal budget, and the conversations with them made them feel important and loved.

The understanding, great dedication and ambition of Albena Jones to support people with mental illness are at the heart of the positive effect of good mental health practitioners in our country, with adequate specialized support, able to live in dignity among others.

An alternative exists when, in the process of overcoming social and spiritual exclusion participate NPO, led by people like the President of the IWC Mrs. Albena Jones, are involved - to invest in the creation of a mobile system for providing adequate health and spiritual care, in accordance with the European Community Care Guidelines.

We widely promote the results of the individual support provided to consumers in the public, in analyzes and reports to responsible agencies, as well as to the ASA, because with your mediation we have created a successful working unit, in support of people with mental disorders, housed in the FCCMDF, "Setlina" and FCCMDF, "Ndejda", based on model, experience and staff, which gives them a chance to participate in the spiritual life of the local community.

Thank you for your hand in hand!We thank Ms. Albena Jones for having the concept and experience of overcoming the social exclusion of people

at risk.Thank you for your endeavors for the good and joy in the lives of people who need support in order to live in dignity. Thanks to your systematic and selfless help, we have been able to guarantee consumers the right to adequate
