Round Island Tour with lunch Start with a leisurely morning stroll along Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge – Henderson Waves and take in the lush greenery of Mount Faber and Telok Blangah Hill. Continue west to Jurong Hill Park. Visit the “Garden of Fame” featuring 27 trees planted by visiting dignitaries including the likes of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and China’s leader Deng Xiao Ping. Head over to Jurong Hill Lookout Tower where you enjoy a panoramic view of Jurong Port and Jurong Island. Lunch at a local restaurant before proceeding to Bright Hill Temple, a famous Chinese ancestral place of worship and admire its spectacular architecture. We cross from North – Central to Eastern Singapore to explore the hidden paths and places that were not easily accessible to the average traveller. View from a distance Selarang Barracks – where the infamous Barracks Square incident occurred during WWII – a revolt of the British and Australian POWs interned in a Japanese Camp in Changi. Drive past Changi Air Base towards Changi Village where the old Changi Hospital is located. Along Changi Beach facing the Straits of Johore, we stop for 10mins for photos. In the distance, land reclamation has started for the construction of Terminal 5 which is expected to complete in 2030 and will handle 150 million passengers annually. Walk with Our Ancestors Intrigued by the ancient practice of Feng Shui or geomancy? Discover why it’s still very much alive in cosmopolitan Singapore! Our first stop takes us to a Hakka cemetery. Built in the 1800s, it demonstrates how the ancient Chinese had believed in the importance of giving their ancestors a proper final resting place. It was considered the highest form of filial piety which would affect their destiny and ensure continued blessings for future generations. Moving to bustling Orchard Road, we learn about its Feng Shui related buildings and how the previous Teochew cemetery hill is believed to be the land of seven falling stars. Explore an amazing monastery in Toa Payoh and see the semi-circular pond with Nine Water Dragons sprouting “Shui“ or water to deflect “Sha Qi” or negative energy from the nearby highway. Finally, we stop at Singapore’s most iconic building – Marina Bay Sands. A Historical Tour of Malacca Malacca – declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008, is a city where history and architecture withstood the test of time. Once, it was a flourishing and thriving port that was Malaysia’s unofficial historical capital and was a favoured port to wait out the monsoons. In 1400s, Malacca monopolise the trading routes and to seek protection from the Siamese invaders, Malacca forged an alliance with the MING Emperor to secure protection. In time to come, Chinese settlers who married local Malay women resulted in what is now the Peranakan Race – Baba Nyonya people. Home of the well-known Nyonya Cuisine, it’s a popular destination for tourists who want to catch a glimpse of Malaysia’s Unique Heritage. From the 16th to 18th century, Malacca was invaded by the Portuguese, captured by the Dutch and lastly the British assumed control when in exchange they gave the city of Bencoolen to the Dutch. Portuguese fortress in 1511; the British took over in 1641 and destroyed it in 1806 to prevent it falling into Napoleon’s hands. A Famosa, or “The Famous” in Portuguese, is one of the oldest surviving remnants of European architecture in Asia. We will head to St Paul’s Church. This is the oldest functioning Roman Catholic Church in Malaysia, built in 1710 by descendants of early Portuguese settlers. The ruins of St. Paul’s church stand at the summit of St. Paul’s hill near the remains of A Famosa fortress.
