The stamp issue consists of three graphical illustrations of the rooster, the 10th animal sign in the Chinese zodiac calendar, and is part of SingPost’s Zodiac stamp series that began in 2008 with the Rat. According to tradition, those born in the Year of Rooster are said to be courageous, hardworking and outspoken. They tend to be active, amusing and at the centre of attraction. Famous people born in the Year of the Rooster include Beyoncé, Roger Federer, and JJ Lin. The set of stamps comes in three denominations: 1st Local, 70¢ and $1.30. There is a Pre-cancelled First Day Cover at $3.20 affixed with the complete set of stamps and cancelled with a special Zodiac Rooster postmark. A Collector’s Sheet comprising a $5 stamp and a $10 stamp, featuring shiny varnish with gold ink that glows in the dark, will also be available for sale at $16.80. The stamp issue will go on sale from 6 January 2017 at all post offices and the Singapore Philatelic Museum. They may also be purchased online at www.stampdelight.com .

SINGAPORE, 5 January 2017 – Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) will release on 6 January 2017 a new set of stamps celebrating this Chinese New Year that marks the start of the Year of the Rooster.
