1. Executive Summary

This report provides the test results found to date for the OpenText Fax server (RightFax) SIP Trunking evaluation. The following is a summary addressed the issues found while performing the test.

OpenText Fax server (RightFax) supports fax modes ‘T.38 only’, ‘G.711 Pass through

only’ and ‘T.38 with Fallback to G.711 pass through’. Testing was done with all three modes.

With ‘T.38 only’ mode few changes related to FAX is MUST on XO packet service profile to make sure Fax always woks as T.38. Please contact XO support to request these changes.

With ‘G.711 only’ mode no changes required related to FAX on XO packet service profile.

With ‘T.38 with Fallback to G.711 pass through’ outbound Fax always uses ‘G.711 Pass through’ instead of T.38.

XO only supports ‘T.38 version’ as ‘0’. Maximum fax speed supported by XO is up to

14400 bps.

Noticed that fax mode change (from ‘T.38 only’ to ‘G.711 Pass through only’ or vice versa) on OpenText requires server services restart. Without it server sends out ‘486 Busy’ for incoming fax call after fax mode changes.

DSCP values for SIP signaling and RTP packets couldn’t be set from OpenText Fax server

(RightFax). There are options to set these values but it didn’t work. Reported issue to OpenText. They have open ticket with Dialogic.

No resolution found at time of writing this report.

2. Registration Method

Static registration is utilized between the Dialogic RightFax server and the XO Session Border Controller.
