HARI Times SEPT—OCT 2016
Dear HARI Devotees,
We hope all of you are having a wonderful 2016. This year has been a whirlwind of events so far!!! All the events at
HARI have been well attended with the wonderful cultural programs organized by our talented members and food
sponsored by our generous devotees.
We concluded our 40th Anniversary celebrations in July 2016 with the Maha Yagna, Dhwajarohan and HARI Fair. Alt-
hough July was sweltering with heat, you, all our devotees still attended these events in hordes and made it a success.
The presence of Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati for the Maha Yagna and Dhwajarohan along with the pravachan de-
livered by him and Pujya Sadhviji was exhilarating.
As we continue through the rest of 2016, we wanted to provide all of you with an update on the improvements taking
place on the HARI premises. Many of you may have seen clearing activities in the parking lot to start the parking lot
improvement. This will continue over the next few months. Along with this, several other projects will also start which
include replacing the guard rails along the approach to the front entrance of the temple building, mens/ womens toilet
upgrades, exterior lighting, etc. We want to assure you that your precious donations and sponsorship will very careful-
ly be put to use for necessary projects only.
We are fast approaching Diwali and Annakut celebrations in November, when the 2016 Annual General Body meeting
will be held. This is scheduled for Saturday, November 5,2016. Please mark this date on your calendars and make sure
that you attend this year’s Diwali/ Annakut celebrations. We promise you that this year’s celebrations will be very en-
gaging and at the same time provide you with the summary of 2016 operations and committee updates.
We thank all of you for your continued contributions to HARI request that you continue to shower your generosity for
the growth and operation of the temple. Please continue to provide your feedback and suggestions to us for improve-
ments which are greatly welcome. Please feel free to contact either of us at [email protected] or chair-
Jai Shri Krishna and Jai Shriman Narayana.

Message from the Public Relations Committee
Namaste! It is great to see the involvement of our members in many of the community events both in and
outside the temple. Kudos to the current temple team and volunteers, who work tirelessly to make devotee
experience better at the HARI temple! A big thank you to all who attend and/or participate in the temple
events. Thanks also to all those who donate with open hands and hearts, which allows the temple commit-
tee to implement many of the needed changes.
We are always looking for suggestions from members for improvements and also for volunteers, who want
to make things better. Please send your suggestions to the HARI President
at [email protected] and consider volunteering for various activities by emailing us.
Our engagement w ith interfaith groups continues with the leadership from
PR committee members. Recently, members of different faiths including Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Bud-
dhist, Baha’I, and Sikh visited us for an inter-religion faith (IRF) forum meeting at the HARI tem-
ple. The group met to plan for the 2nd annual Harmony Walk to be held on Sept 18th 2016 from 3-5pm in
the downtown Harrisburg area. More details about this event will follow soon. Mr Ashok Shukla, a member
of the PR committee, remains very active in the IRF activities in the Capital area.
The end of the summer months brought our annual Rakhi Run, which was held on August 14,
2016. Ms. Samyukhta Ravi once again lead the HARI youth group in organizing this spectacular event which
promotes unity and kinship, along with good health. Please continue to show your support for the temple and
community activities.

HARI Times SEPT—OCT 2016
HARI has been very fortunate over the past few years in having the monthly Havans at the temple
under the guidance of Pu. Shastriji and Pu. Swamiji. In continuation of this tradition, the Havan
schedule for 2016 is listed in the table below. This is a devotee led event, so thank you to all the
devotees that have generously agreed to sponsor these Havans. Continuing the tradition of having
the monthly Havans at HARI provides another avenue for the community to come together, besides
getting blessings from the Lord. Sponsoring the Prasad after the Havan is a great sign of kind-
ness on behalf of the sponsors, but please do not feel obligated to have an elaborate spread of
food for the dinner Prasad. A simple dinner Prasad can suffice for the occasion. It is entirely up to
the sponsor on how you manage this. Thanks once again for being such good patrons of HARI and
helping move this tradition along.
