The high-speed rail line proposed from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, featuring a station in
Victorville, is being backed by China through a joint venture between Las Vegas-based
XpressWest and China Railway International USA CO.
The partnership calls for a joint effort to build and operate the rail line, which would
connect Las Vegas to Los Angeles.
The rail will feature stations in Las Vegas, Victorville and Palmdale, with service
throughout Los Angeles.
ExpressWest line would run parallel to Interstate 15 through the desert to Las Vegas from
Victorville, CA
The High Desert Corridor is a proposed 63-mile long, east-west multi-modal transportation
passageway between Highway 14 in Palmdale and Highway 18 in Apple Valley. The rail
component of that project could ultimately connect with the XpressWest endeavor.
The Xinhua News Agency reported that $100 million had been secured in initial capital for
the Joint Venture.
As China's first high-speed railway project in the United States, the project will be a
landmark in overseas investment for the Chinese railway sector and serve as a model of
international cooperation.
