No works are to commence until the following processes/procedures are in place:

1. This Method Statement & associated Risk Assessments have been submitted to the relevant persons / Authorities.

2. Site inductions and site briefings have been completed.3. Agree and mark out areas with the relevant persons / Authorities.4. Check existing service drawings, carry out CAT scans advise relevant

persons of any findings.Erect fencing to segregate the work area and agree with the principle contractor safe pedestrian access / signage and relevant traffic management systems.

5. Issue to the operatives a permit to dig with a copy of the relevant service drawings.

6. All ACS site operatives & management associated with the project, have the appropriate CSCS / CPCS training certs.

7. All Approved for Construction drawings & Schedules will be available on site.

8. Welfare facilities will be established on site.9. The works area and agreed fencing lines has been defined and agreed

between all parties.Once the above is in place, site works can proceed as follows:

During the installation of the drainage at the welfare area, there is an existing concrete slab which will need to be broken out. There is a cabin on top of the slab which will first need to be lifted (by others as agreed on site). The slab will then be broken out using breakers 8t excavator and attached breaker. The concrete will be removed from the working area to a temporary stockpile before being removed from site.

revision drawing.2. Pipe trench will then be excavated by the 8t Excavator which is suitable to

the size and location of drain run.3. For excavations requiring ground support this will be provided by a steel

drag box (AS PER APPENDIX A) which would be pushed down as the excavation proceeds or by sheets and frames dependant on relevant services, this will be investigated on site. The shoring box systems to be used will include integrated ladder safe access points and handrail systems and will be installed as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.

4. Gas monitor to be present at all times when excavating to ensure there are no harmful gases/ substances when working within the excavation.

5. Shallow excavations will have battered or stepped sides suitable to the ground conditions.

6. Any ground water encountered will be controlled by pumping and discharging in to an existing drain, this will be agreed on site.

7. The excavator will then place the specified bedding and lower into place the pipe. THE EXCAVATOR BUCKET MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE MACHINE PROIR TO THE PIPES BEING LOWERED INTO THE TRENCH.

8. Pipes will be laid in accordance with the drainage specification & relevant drainage sections. (Note drainage pipes have been changed to polypipe)

9. Depth of bedding and the line / level of pipes will be controlled by pipe laser with periodic checks by the site engineer.

10. Pipe laying will continue following the above procedures until reaching the manhole or pop up position.

11. No personnel are to enter any unsuitable trench and daily inspections must be carried out and inspections recorded weekly.

12. All excavations when left open must be fenced off. Drainage works to be carried out within a secure segregated area

13. No excavated material to be stored adjacent to excavations. (45 degree angle of repose) unless the storage/stock pile is a minimum 1m away from the edge of the excavation.

14. Prior to any backfilling notification should be given to Sisk and an Engineer (at least 24hrs notice) who will conduct a drainage inspection. (ACS will also inspect and record the drainage run before backfilling in line with the company’s quality procedures).

15. Specified backfill will be placed in layers by the machine and once the agreed cover to the pipe is reached the trench will be compacted by roller or vibrating plate.

MAN HOLE SEQUENCE

1. Manhole excavations will be as pipe trench with a purpose made manhole box installed (AS PER APPENDIX B), whenever possible the box systems will include integrated access and handrail systems or a stepped / battered excavation for shallow manholes.

2. On completion of the excavation concrete (in accordance with specification) will be placed inside the manhole to form the base and pre-cut/manufactured channels set (as per schedule)

3. Note: Additional care will be taken to ensure the concrete surrounds the underside of the existing pipe work in the outfall manholes where applicable.

4. Precast concrete manhole rings will be lowered on top of the Manhole Base using certified man hole lifting eyes (THE EXCAVATOR BUCKET MUST BE REMOVED WHILST PLACING THE MAN HOLE RINGS).

5. Grano benching will be formed to complete the base. Note: When possible the benching works are to be carried out before the man hole cover slab is in place, this will reduce the Amount of works carried out within a confined

space. Note: Operatives entering a confined space must be trained and signed onto the confined space method Statement.

6. Additional Rings will be placed on top of the 1st until the required/total number of rings has been installed. And reduced level checked.

7. A cover Slab will be placed on top of the final ring8. Any backdrops will be constructed as per the design details and concrete

surround placed to the manhole rings.9. Suitable protection will be placed to the openings within the cover slab to

prevent falls. This will be achieved using either the steel manhole cover or boarded out using 2x sheets of plywood with timber fixed below to minimise the risk of the plywood moving.

10. A steel manhole surround shutter will be lifted and set into position prior to semi dry concrete being placed around the manhole, this will then be left to cure for 1 day to minimise the disruption to the concrete and giving it time to cure before backfilling.

11. Once the concrete has cured the manhole surround shutter will be removed and the excavation will be backfilled and compacted with the specified fill.

12. Once the Manhole Biscuit is in place then the manhole will be treated as a confined space. Only trained confined space personnel can enter the confined space, with confined space equipment and under a confined space permit issued by John Sisk.

Interceptor Installation

1. The site engineer will mark out the position of the interceptor to the latest revision drawing.

2. The Interceptor will be excavated by the use of the 13t 360 degree machine.

3. The depth of the excavation is approximately 4.3m deep but the ground will first be reduced by 0.3m so 4m of ground will require shoring.

4. An agreed shoring design from Ground force will be issued for the excavation which ACS will follow the procedure set out in the design for the safe installation of the shoring.

5. The shoring design will be based on 1 No. M/H box at 2.5m and 1 No. M/H top box at 1.5m high. The plan size of the boxes will be 3m by 2m.

6. Any ground water encountered will be controlled by pumping and discharging into agreed locations.

7. The Petrol Interceptor will be installed as per the procedure set out from the manufacturer, Conder CNSB Bypass Separator.

8. The Interceptor will be placed onto the concrete base while the concrete is still wet.

9. The interceptor will need to be filled with water to a depth of 300mm and then the pipe work levels will need to be checked.

10. Concrete will then be backfilled around the tank evenly while we will continue to fill the tank with water however the water level can be no more than 300mm above the concrete level.

11. The turrets of the interceptor will then be connected and sealed. The concrete surround will then continue of the chamber and turrets in lift heights not exceeding 500mm. The concrete surround of the turrets will be formed by using 1050 diameter M/H rings to act as permanent formwork. The M/H rings will be carefully lifted into place by the use of the excavator.

12. Once the backfill is complete then footings will be cast to enable the manhole cover and frame to be placed.

13. Pipe laying will then continue following the drainage RAMS until reaching the outfall manhole.

14. No personnel are to enter any unsuitable trench and daily inspections must be carried out and inspections recorded weekly.

15. All excavations when left unoccupied must be fenced.
