Sitecore Testing For your convenience, we have posted all the directions, images and content to be copied online at www.lsuagcenter.com/betatest . Before beginning the test, go to lsuagcenter.com/betatest: 1. You will need at least 3 images. You can use images you already have or download the images located under Related Files. Make sure to save them under My Pictures so you can find them later. 2. Download the “content-doc” document. 3. You can also open the directions or use the hand out we gave you. Sitecore Testing

For your convenience, we have posted all the directions, images and content to be copied online at www.lsuagcenter.com/betatest.

Before beginning the test, go to lsuagcenter.com/betatest:1. You will need at least 3 images. You can use images you already have or download the images located under

Related Files. Make sure to save them under My Pictures so you can find them later.2. Download the “content-doc” document.3. You can also open the directions or use the hand out we gave you.

There are 2 exercises to test the usability of the Sitecore platform.

Login to Sitecore by using your AgCenter ID and password >> http://edit.lsu.ag/Type your User Name as follows: Agcenter\Your Agcenter ID Then, enter your password.

Exercise 1:

1. At the top left corner, click “Create Page.”

2. Then select the “Default Page.”

3. Copy and paste or type the Article Name under Page Editor > Display Name. You will find the Article Name located in the “content-doc” that you have already downloaded or you may type it using the words below.

Article Name: Plan carefully for growing plants indoors

4. Copy and paste the text located in the “content-doc” under the heading “Content 1” into the Content placeholder. The text is various sizes and styles to show you what happens when you copy and paste from other applications such as Microsoft Word. Sitecore automatically strips all formatting from the text.

5. Within the text, highlight the word, “Light.” Then, in the top left corner of the Content module, click the drop down arrow and click on “Heading 1”.

6. This next step will be filling out the “Details” area. The information here will be the article description and the thumbnail associated with the article.

Details is located in the right column. First, load an image using the images you downloaded at the beginning of this exercise.

Under Details, click “Select Image” and choose one image by double-clicking on the image or highlight the image and click “Open” in the bottom right corner.

This is the image that is used for the article listing thumbnail next to the article description. It is not used within the article itself unless you choose to use it as one of your images when choosing images from the Media Library.

7. Next to the image, copy and paste or type the Article Description listed in the “content-doc” under Description.

Article Description: Successfully growing houseplants starts with understanding their needs. Primary among these is

light. Light is the energy plants use to create their food. You cannot grow a plant where there is not enough light, no

matter how good it looks in the location.

8. Under Publishing, click “Save Changes” located next to “Preview.”

9. Click “Preview” next to “Save Changes.”

It should look like this:

10. Close the “Preview” pane.

11. In the Media Library (under the Publishing pane), click “Upload File(s)” and choose at least three images to upload for this article. To upload the images, click “Upload File(s)” and navigate to the images you downloaded at the beginning of this exercise or use your own images. Select the images by either double-clicking the image or highlight the images (hold shift key down or Ctrl key to hand select multiple images) and click “Open” in the bottom right corner of your screen.

12. Located to the left of Media Library, under Page Editor, click “+Add Modules” and select “Image.” We are adding a single image module.

13. Click the green plus sign in the top left corner to open the image library.

14. The “Choose Image” module will fly out. Select one image to add in the module.

15. Under People, your name will automatically be listed as Owner and Author. You have the option to change that designation or also select POC. Other users may also be selected and listed by searching for them in the “Select User” section. These users can be given the role of Owner, POC or Author or a combination of duties.

For testing purposes, select an additional user by typing their last name in the “Select User” box and give them a role of POC by checking the box under their name.

16. Under Tags, type two keywords. Press “Enter” between each keyword.The keywords for this article are: Flowers, houseplants

17. Under Channels, only select channels in which the content should appear. For purposes of this test, we are going to select two channels: “Training and Support” and “Training Class Section.” Click the expansion arrows next to Our Offices > Departments > Information Technology > web application development >Training and Support.

18. Then select the boxes next to “Training and Support” and “Training Class Section.”

19. Under Publishing, click “Save Changes.”

20. Then click “Preview.”

21. Close the “Preview” pane.

Exercise 2:

For this next exercise, you are going to make changes to the page you just created.

1. Click on “Dashboard” in the top left corner.

2. Under Your Articles, located at the top right of the Dashboard, click “Edit” next to the article you just created.

3. The first change is to replace the existing image. Scroll to the Image module located under the Content module and click the green plus sign in the top left corner.

4. Select another image by double-clicking on it from the Choose Image field. It will automatically replace the existing image.

5. Click “Save Changes.”

6. Click “Preview” to preview your article.

The page should look similar to this:

7. In the next step, we will be adding a Content module. Located below the image, under Page Editor, click “+Add Modules” and select “Content.”

8. Copy and paste the text located in the “content-doc” under the heading “Content 2” into the Content placeholder.

9. Within the text, highlight the word, “Water.” Then, in the top left corner of the Content module, click the drop down arrow and click on “Heading 1.”

10. Next, add a second image to the article.

Located below the Content module, click “+Add Modules” and select “Image.” This is a single image module.

11. Click the green plus sign in the top left corner to open the image library. The image library will once again fly out.

12. Choose one image to add in the module.

13. Click “Save Changes.”

14. Click “Preview.”

15. It should look something like this:
