619 is a full service graphic design firm that operates like a collaborative. Each of us brings our training, personal strengths and our interests into focus for the graphic design needs of our clients. We always work as a team. We make sure the work of individuals meets the standards of creative excellence we hold for our firm.

Ron Kipnis | Co-owner and Creative Director Ron is the award-winning designer who has built 619 into the successful full service agency it is today. He has been a professional graphic designer for the past 18 years and has worked extensively across paper-based and electronic communication vehicles. Ron’s strengths include the ability to create compelling graphic art for any medium-from print to the web. He is well known throughout California for his many graphic design projects in the entertainment, lifestyle and education industries.

Teri Kipnis | Co-Owner, Image Consultant & Engineer Teri is a certified Civil Engineer who applies her design sense to each of the projects we work on. Teri is an active partner in the discovery and analysis of design trends conducted by 619. She serves as an image consultant during the project development process we apply to our work. She is the double check on our work process and serves as the architectural consultant in signage and packaging projects. Teri received her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from SDSU.

Nicholas McPherson | Artistic Director Nick is a talented and prolific artist who heads the 619 production team. Trained as both a fine artist and in the technologies of electronic graphic design, Nick has produced work that includes compelling packaging, annual reports and web sites for many of the 619 clients. He is also an accomplished photographer who can integrate his own original work into projects requested by clients.

Marissa Bowman | Web and Print Design Artist Marissa is the main web design artist at 619. Her academic

Al is a transplant from Michigan where he got a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design at Ferris State University. He not only does print design work but he's also a technology geek of sorts. Heading the front-end web development here at 619, Al continues to gain knowledge and learn new technologies to expand his toolbox.

training focused on new media and her personal experiences in the world of dance and multi-cultural crafts keeps 619 attuned to international trends. Marissa also earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design from USD.

Rob Rogol | Marketing DirectorRob heads up all marketing and business development efforts for the company. His strong leadership and consensus building skills, along with his proven track record of developing and administering numerous marketing and branding campaigns has enabled enormous growth for 619. Rob has extensively traveled the world and specializes in building long-lasting relationships with each client that 619 Design assists.

A. Company Positioning:619 is a full service graphic design agency specializing in the development of contemporary visual communication campaigns. 619 succeeds in creating unique strategic solutions for businesses, agencies and organizations interested in building or reinvigorating themselves. 619 offers a competi-tive advantage in design services through ongoing research and participation in key market segments.

B. Company Philosophy:Our philosophy is that new ideas, innovation and committed client relationships are the most important aspects of our business (oh yeah, there’s also that scary obsession with details and meeting deadlines). We believe that cooperative team work offers the greatest avenue to success. We believe that creative excellence requires community participation. We believe that listening and thoughtful consideration are the first step toward achieving our goals. And we believe that our company offers absolutely the best client service and graphic design standards available (Really).

C. Work Process Many years ago we went to a community meeting and heard a presentation by a Police Captain involved in Community Oriented Policing. He talked a lot about how the Department was working to involve the communities of San Diego into every aspect of decision making for the Department. He described a process that the Department had begun to integrate into its day-to-day operations across the board. That process has a simple acronym (SARA) and delivers outstanding returns

in their work environment and, as it turns out, in ours too.SARA is:SCANNINGThat’s taking a critical look at the needs and desires of clients. For the Police that’s residents of San Diego. For 619 that’s our target market(s), business clients and production partners.

ANALYSISThat means determining how to best meet those needs and desires given the capabilities and resources available for the job at hand. They’ve got creative guys with guns we’ve got creative guys with super-computers and loads of software.

RESPONSEThis is where the project goals are set and implemented. They may need to start a neighborhood watch program. We’ve got to convince folks to attend a special event, sign up for memberships or buy a particular product.

ASSESSMENTAt the end of each project we ask ourselves and our client if there was some way to better meet their goals; If we could have done anything better. We give a hard look at market data, previous campaigns and our entire work process and product. If there’s a better way to do what we do so well we’re going to find it.

SARA works. Sure it’s a little different, but it keeps us on our toes and helps us deliver absolutely the best product and client service available.
