TRAVEL SIZE TOILETRIES FOR APPALACHIA

If you are travelling this summer and don’t use the toiletries that hotels provide, please bring them back and we will put them to good use. During the summer months we will be collecting travel size toiletries for holiday boxes for people in Appalachia. There will be a box in the hallway between the cafeteria and church to put the items in. Because these toiletries will be packed in shoe boxes, we can ONLY use travel size items. Also, these are in Christmas gift boxes so please only NEW/UNOPENED items. We are not able to accept any hospital toiletries either. THANK YOU in advance for helping brighten the holidays for the less fortunate.

The Lord Is My Shepherd, There Is Nothing I Shall Want – One of the most tender images we have of Jesus is that of the Good Shepherd. Just as a shepherd guides the flock, so Jesus leads us, his flock, keeping us safe, encouraging us, placing us on his shoulders when we have strayed as he

draws us back into the fold. The Lord’s work as shepherd of our hearts is not limited to a time of trial or need in our lives. Jesus is always, actively leading us and it is the responsibility of each of us as Christians to listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd and follow him on the path of life. Not only does Jesus lead us individually as his sisters and brothers, but also wholly as the Church. The shepherd keeps the flock moving together as one and goes in search of the lost in order that they may be one with the Church again. As we journey On Mission for The Church Alive! we trust in the guidance of Christ the Good Shepherd to lead us and the Church through this time of change. The Lord does not abandon his flock and will strengthen us as we draw closer to him in faith and to each other as the Church. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES NEEDS DIAPERS & WIPES!

Catholic Charities is in dire need of diapers for our Pregnancy and Parenting Program. To help Catholic Charities’ Emerging Leaders Council is launching our 100,000 Diapers in 100 Days Drive, and we invite your parish to participate! This annual drive collects diapers and wipes for low-income, struggling parents of infants under two who we serve through our Pregnancy and Parenting Program. You can help the moms, dads, and babies we serve by collecting diapers (sizes 2-5) and wipes by contacting Brendan Avila at (412) 456-6969 / [email protected] to schedule drop-off. Prefer to donate diapers electronically? Log on to your regular Amazon account at smile.amazon.com and select "Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh" as the organization you would like to benefit from your purchase. Select your diapers/wipes, and have them mailed to our downtown office at 212 9th Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. By logging in through Amazon Smile, you donate 0.5% of the cost of your purchase to Catholic Charities!
