Year 12 Futures Programmes for teaching and health at the University of Cumbria
Future Teachers The Year 12 Future Teachers Programme allows students to explore the professional and exciting world of teaching. Students who take part in the programme can receive a guaranteed interview to the University of Cumbria by fulfilling certain criteria.
Future Health The Year 12 Future Health Programme gives students the opportunity to find out more about the following programmes at the University of Cumbria:

Year 12 Work Experience The deadline for finding a placement and returning your consent forms to the Sixth Form Office is Friday 23 March 2018. Spare copies of the consent form can be downloaded from the Sixth Form area of the school website or collected from the racks outside the Sixth Form Office.
Opportunities for Sixth Form students Y12 - Considering a career in teaching? If so, you will benefit from attending the University of Cumbria's 'Starting your Teaching Career - Making the Most of Year 12' talk which will be held during PDV hour Thursday 16 November, P2. Y13 - Help with your CV A Work Adviser for Schools has offered to come in to Sixth Form to do work with Y13 students on their CVs. (Date to be confirmed). This will be ideal for anyone who would like help/advice etc. with preparing a CV. Y13 - Mock interview with a local employer During P3, Thursday 7 December. Please note these are for students who are intending to go into employment/apprenticeships (not university). Discovery Work Experience Programme
The KPMG Discovery Programme gives Year 12 students the chance to gain invaluable work experience in the professional services industry. Running in summer 2018 at a number of KPMG offices around the UK, the programme is designed for students in Year 12 who are interested in a career in business at a firm such as KPMG. During the programme students will undertake a series of interactive business challenges, skills workshops and research tasks designed to develop some of the key skills needed to thrive at KPMG. You will also have the opportunity to meet and hear presentations from KPMG employees across the business and, on their 5-day and 3-day programmes, work shadow to see the type of work our employees undertake on a day-to-day basis. www.kpmgcareers.co.uk/apprenticeships/apprenticeship-programmes/kpmg-discovery

Joe and Sam (a former Trinity student) from Nestle visited Sixth Form recently talked to Year 13 students about two apprenticeship opportunities at the company’s Dalston factory: Engineering Apprenticeship - 4 years with block release to Hudders-field University. The apprenticeship would cover mechanical, elec-trical, health & safety and quality. Progression opportunities may include managerial, technical and project engineer roles. Entry requirements are 5 GCSEs A*-C. Operations Apprenticeship - 3 year degree apprenticeship studying at Sheffield Hallam University. This would involve being a key mem-ber of the production team and covers technical aspects, H&S and continuous improvement. Entry requirements are 104 UCAS points across 3 A Levels/BTECs. Our Subject Taster Days give students the opportunity to find out about subjects they could study at university and the careers to which they might lead. Students work with experienced staff and current students from a variety of academic disciplines, taking part in lectures, practical workshops and group work sessions as well as campus tours and ses-sions on student life. Year 12 days provide opportunities for deeper engagement with the subject, enhancing A Level study and enabling students to make an informed choice about Higher Education.

Cambridge University Subject Masterclasses—bookings open The University is running a large set of Subject Masterclasses this October and November for academically able Year 12 students. Masterclasses are a great opportunity for students to undertake super-curricular activities and explore subjects beyond the school curriculum. Students are able to attend multiple masterclasses throughout the year, so they can also be a useful tool for students still deciding which subject they wish to study at university. This autumn there are Masterclasses for the following subjects: English, Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, History of Art, Politics and International Relations, Genetics and Biochemistry, History, Archaeology, Music, Physics, Evolutionary Biology, Modern and Medieval Languages, Law, Chemistry, Sociology, Linguistics and Land Economy.
