Elements of art are TOOLS that artists use to create art. It helps communicate visually.
Line, shape, texture, value , color, form and space.
So far we have seen how SHAPE can be used to break up space. We have used shapes and space to communicate meaning to a viewer and NOW we will use line to show space!
BASICALLY YOUR OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS FOR THESE!
Basic Vocabulary you will need to know
Line Space Horizon line Depth Vanishing point Elements of art
One Point perspective
Tools used to show the ILLUSION of space on a two dimensional plane (paper)
REMEMBER As things go further in space they do get
smaller and darker As things get closer to you, they get larger
and lighter
View points
Three different view points Birds eye view- the view point is from above
and looks down (example: your in an airplane looking down)
Worms eye view- your viewpoint in down below (example: your sitting on the ground).
Straight on view- view point is in the middle. (example: standing up at ground level).
As the viewpoint changes, so does the horizon line
