LCU Makes Donation To TheUnity in Community FoundationOn Member Appreciation Day, June 1,2018, LCU made a donation to the Unity inCommunity Foundation, a charitableorganization that provides service to thosein need in Leyden Township. The donationhelps the foundation carry out its charitablemission. This is the fourth consecutive yearthat LCU has made a donation.
Some contributions that the foundation hasmade include purchasing a van with a wheelchair lift for a young lady with an incurabledisease as well as providing a service dog fora student with epilepsy to help her gainadmission to college. The foundation alsoawards scholarships each year.
LCU and “Unity” have partnered together atvarious events and fundraisers. By workingtogether, each organization believes thatthey will gain greater exposure and a largerpresence in the community that they serve.
According to David Lukas, LCU Presidentand CEO, the foundation and Leyden CreditUnion both share the same goal: helpingthose in the Leyden Township community.

Member Appreciation Day was held on Friday, June 1st. Memberswere treated to grilled burgers and hot dogs, bottled water, andcookies and chips. The Franklin Park Police Department was onhand offering child safety seat check-ups and child fingerprinting.Also, a representative from Santa’s Village had a booth sellingdiscounted tickets to members. LCU also had a free raffle withfifteen prizes.
Awards were also presented at Member Appreciation Day. LCUawarded $500 scholarships to Sarah Krajewski, Adam Majka, andOlga Bulka and a $500 Teacher Grant to Carol Siegel.

In the near future, Visa will be increasing its security measures tocombat fraud for online purchases. For the consumer, this meansthat you may see additional security screens to successfullycomplete a transaction online. This extra security measure is usedto verify your identity during the checkout process.
The verification process willsend a pass code by textmessage to your cell phone orto your email address. You willuse that pass code to identifyyourself during checkout andsuccessfully complete youronline transaction.
In order to be prepared for this security process, we must have yourcurrent cell phone number and email address on file in order for youto receive your pass codes. You will be unable to complete youronline transaction if we do not have accurate contact informationfor you.
Note that a security pass code will not be required for every onlinetransaction. Visa will determine when this extra security measureis necessary to verify your identity.
It is extremely important that LCU has your correct cell phonenumber and e-mail address on our system. Please feel free to askany employee to confirm that we have your current and accuratecontact information.

Credit/Debit Card FraudNotification UpdateThe text message SMS code that is used to contact our members aboutquestionable Credit/Debit card transactions has changed. Previously,members received text messages from SMS code 32874, the new code is86975. Members should be aware to only trust text messages from thisnew SMS code to help protect themselves from scams or other maliciousmessages.
As a reminder, we partner with a serviceprovider to monitor credit/debit cardactivity 24 hours a day. A sophisticatedsoftware system is used to detectpossible fraudulent transactions toprotect members from unauthorizedpurchases.
Members that have a cellphone number on filemay periodically receivea text message asking toconfirm if suspected card purchases are valid ornot. Members with an e-mail address on file may also receive an e-mailnotification on behalf of Leyden Credit Union. Similar to text messages,you will be asked to confirm if suspected card purchases are valid. As afinal option, members may be contacted by telephone using an automatedvoice response system to confirm suspected card purchases.
E-mail notifications will include your name and the last 4 digits of yourcard. Text messages will only include the last 4 digits of your card. Youwill see “Leyden Credit Union” in both types of notifications. You will onlybe asked to verify your purchases; no personal information will berequested. Please do not reveal any personal or private informationabout you or your card unless you are confident you are responding to atrustworthy notification.
A telephone number will be included in the notifications to reach a fraudalert specialist if you wish to discuss the matter further or confirm theauthenticity of the notification. That number is 1-800-369-4887 and isavailable 24 hours a day.
It is extremely important that LCU has your correct cell phone numberand e-mail address on our system. Please feel free to ask any employeeto confirm that we have your current and accurate contact information.
If you are unsure if an automated call, text message, or e-mail you’vereceived is legitimate, you are welcome to contact LCU directly to confirmany card activity on your account.
