Where their possible locations in the body and why?

• Skeletal muscle is bounded with the bone at least 2 pieces and pass through at least 1 joint. The reason is it helps the bone movement.

Page 3: Skeletal Muscle Cell.

How does it differ from the generalized plant or animal cell?

• Skeletal muscle has multiple nucleus that while it is called “ multinucleated cell” which fit on the rim of the cell membrane while each organelle in animal cell or plant cell has only one nucleus and also has many mitrochondria.

What specialized organelles are found in the cell?

1. Myofibrils are various small fiber that extend along the length of muscle cell.

2. Sarcoplasmic Reticulum is the smooth endoplasmic reticulum that found in muscle fibers which stores calcium phosphate salts.

3. Myofilament is the smallest unit of this skeletal muscle.4. Sarcolemma is the outer lipid cell membrane which initiates the muscle contraction.5. Sarcoplasm is a cytoplasm of general muscle fiber.6. Myoglobin , which is in sarcoplasm , stores oxygen for mitochondria to use in ATP production.

What is the shape of the cell?

• The shape of skeletal muscle is a long cylinder. Its length is around 1-10 mm and its diameter is 10-120 micrometre long.

What is the function of the cell?

• Helping the bone and skeletal movement , maintain posture and body position , Suppot organs and internal tissues , Maintain bod temperature , Stores nutrient

Page 7: Skeletal Muscle Cell.

What does the shape of the cell affect the function?

• The shape of this cell has to be long because it can extend along with the body movement and it need to extend and shrink.

Page 8: Skeletal Muscle Cell.

How does its function fit in with the function of the other cells to work in tissue

or an organ?

• Central nervous system will control the skeletal muscle to shrink or extend and then the bone will move. This mechanism effects to the body movement such as arm and leg movement.

How does the function of this cell help keep the organism alive?

• If the skeletal muscle can work well , human can do normally activity in daily life such as running , walking and carrying.

What are some of the disease related to the malfunction of your cell type?

• Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease characterized by fluctuating weakness of the muscle group. It is caused by the muscle is used repeatedly and weaken easily. This disease can recovery by taking a rest. The muscle weakness can happen in several part of body such as eye muscle , face and throats muscles and neck and limb muscles.
