HANDS-ON • Practical Automated Perimetry: Its Interpretation Course Director: Gordon R Douglas, MD The goal of these seminars (an extension of Course Hl-124) is to increase a clinician's knowledge in interpreting automated peri­metry results. Using Humphrey and Octopus examples, pre­selected cases are discussed with expert faculty in a 1-to-5 teaching ratio. A supplemental set of stereo-photographs and Humphreyfields will be offered to augment disc-field correlations. • Laser Applications in Glaucoma- Basic Laboratory Course Director: Dale K Heuer, MD This one-hour laboratory session provides hands-on experience with the following glaucoma laser techniques on formalin-fixed human eyes: argon or Nd:YAG iridotomy and sphincterotomy; and argon gonioplasty, pupilloplasty, and trabeculoplasty (course does not include instruction in transscleral Nd:YAG laser cyclophotocoagulation; see Transscleral section). A 2:1 stu­dent:instructor ratio ensures direct supervision. [NOTE: Models used: formalin-fixed autopsy eyes encased in glass and plastic containers; tissue suspended in anhydrous glycerine]. Neil M Bressler, MD The MPS standardized system for evaluating and managing cho­roidal neovascularization (CNV) in age-related macular degener­ation (AMD) will be described in a didactic session on angiographic interpretation of dassic/occult CNV as well as tech­niques for evaluating treatment to minimize recurrences and visual loss.
