Apprenticeships at JN Bentley are hands-on from day one; with a dedicated mentor to support your development throughout the course, you’ll have the opportunity to work with site professionals mainly in the office but also on site and develop key skills in civil engineering and quantity surveying. What you’ll do: Quantity Surveyors play an important role in managing the commercial side of construction projects. They look for ways to minimise the total cost of the project to the business and maximise the value received, whilst still meeting the required standards and levels of quality. Our quantity surveyors split their time between working in the office and out on site, preparing payments and cost reports and managing relationships with various stakeholders. • You’ll gain experience of working on live construction projects - everything from the construction of new sewage treatment works to the upgrading of existing spillways and reservoirs • You will work alongside an experienced Quantity Surveyor learning how to manage all costs relating to projects, working closely with sub-contractor and agreeing and reporting on final accounts on both the financial and contractual status of schemes • You’ll be assigned a mentor who will provide on-going support and assist in setting the day to day work • Off the job training on either a day release or block basis, which may involve staying away from home Apprenticeship in quantity surveying opens up a number of future career prospects in the construction and civil engineering industry. Want to specialise in quantity surveying? You could go on to study a higher or degree apprenticeship and specialise in the area that you enjoy the most. Thought about becoming a commercial manager?
