Skin
It is the bigger organ in the body.
It cover about 1.6 m2
This organ is an external flexibleprotection cover to the body.
Skin
It is the first line of defense of our body fromthe pathogenic agents.
It protect the body from ultra violet rays fromthe sun.
Regulate the body temperature.
It is compose by two layers:
- Epidermis
- Dermis
Epidermis
It is the external layer of the skin.
It is form by special epithelial tissue.
It is cover by a layer of death cells.
The death cells are produce by the subjacent live cells
Epidermis

Skin receptors & components
Epidermis
This dead cells had a substance calledkeratin, it is a protein and works as aprotection and made the skinimpermeable
This cell disappear constantly from theskin in the normal daily activities (it formthe dust in your house).
Epidermis
Some cells of the epidermis produce thesubstance melanin.
Melanin is a factor in the color of the skin.
When you produce more melanin your skin isdarkness.
The sun light stimulate the melaninproduction by the skin cells.
Dermis
It is under the epidermis.
It has two layers of connective tissue.
It is resistant and elastic.
It forms some depression that give the origin to the finger prints.
Epidermis
Dermis
Dermis
It is irrigate by arteries andveins, whit this it control thetemperature.
When you need be cooled thearteries become dilatedreleasing the extra heat.
When you need conserve heat, the arterioles becomecontracted.
◊ Muscle tissue it is present inthe dermis to control the hair.

the skin components:
Hair it´s originate from thehair follicles.
Sewding glands produce watersecretion used for cool downthe temperature in the bodyand eliminate salt and urea.
The adipose glands secrete oilsubstance for skin lubrication.

Acne
It is one of the most common problemson the skin.
This problem happened because theobstruction of the sebaceous glands, it getinfection and swelling.
It form the famous eruption on the faceskin.

Acne
It happen during the adolescence becausethe hormonal change, and the sebaceousglands produce more oil.
The rise in the oil production, plus thedeath cells of the epidermis, produce anobstruction on the skin pore.
3 Pruitt, Crumpler, Prothrow-Stith, “Salud: destrezas para el bienestar”, Prentice Hall, 2000
Acne When this happen in an
open pore to the air itcreate a black dote.
The pimples areobstructed pore notexpose to the air andcover by a very thin layerof epidermis.
Batteries can infect theobstructed pore andcreate a quiste on theskin

Acne
Acne Causes:
Hormonal (specially during the adolescence).
Over production of death cells o theepidermis.
Present of batteries on the skin.
Hereditary.
It can be more evident during the menstrualperiod.
Some cosmetic can produce complication inthe acne.
Some myths about the acne:
The acne it is causeby a poor hygiene
FALSE, the acne it isprodce for a overproduction of death cellsfrom the epidermis and aover production of thesebaceous glands.

Some myths about the acne:
the acne it is cause bysome kinds of food
FALSE, studies has beendemostrate that there is notany relation between muchosestudios han demostrado queNO existe ninguna relaciónentre el tipo de dieta y elacné.
