Participate in group activity Reference: K to 12 Learner’s Material pp. 153-155 K to 12 Teacher’s Guide pp. 160-163 Materials: pictures of different landforms, pencil, activity sheet, pair of scissors, glue or paste, crayons Activities: Priming Questions Is there any kind of landform in your community (hill, mountain, plain, volcano, valley…) Are there plants growing in these landforms? Have you tried mountain climbing? How did you feel while climbing? What is meant by landform? Are landforms naturally occurring or man-made? What are some of the different land forms? Activity Activity Sheet 5: Bodies of Water in your Community Analysis 1. Are there landforms in your community? Pick out a picture of a land form from the list which is similar to where you live. Tell something about your community. 2. Are landforms important? Why? Abstraction What are the different landforms found in your community? Landforms are the natural shapes or features of lands. There are many different types of landforms found on the earth. A mountain is a place on Earth’s surface that is much higher than the land around it. A valley is a lowland area between higher lands such as mountains. A canyon is a deep valley with very steep sides. A plain is a flat area on Earth’s surface. A plateau is a flat area higher than the land around it. An island is land that is completely surrounded by water. Application Closure Ask the pupils to complete the table below. Direction:Activity Sheet 5: Bodies of Water in your Community

1. Group yourselves into 5. Have a photocopy of the landforms.

2. Match a landform picture with its description in your notebook. Cut out the landform pictures. Glue each landform next to its description. Make a poster board for this activity.

3. Answer the following questions:a. Are there landforms in your community?b. Pick out a picture of a land form from the list which is similar to where you live. Tell something about your community. Do this in your notebook. Are landforms important? Why?
