competition analysis Sleepictures' competition is primarily art-driven businesses that sell accessories and apparel that are different from what is mainstream. Some of the companies that Sleepictures shares the market with are: Paul Frank, California www.paulfrank.com. Paul Frank is a large corporation offering clothing, bikes, eyewear, kids furniture, watches, etc. Paul Frank targets a similar demographic as Sleepictures, and Sleepictures hopes to be able to compete with them in a few years time. Emily Strange www.emilystrange.com; Emily Strange is a character-driven line of clothing and accessories that also targets an audience looking for unique apparel and accessories. Their biggest advantage is their loyal clientele; however, Sleepictures offers more variety in our products. Brooks Salzwedel www.shaneonyou.com. Brooks Salzwedel (Shane on You) creates unique belt buckles that are offered in stores throughout the country. The strength of Shane is their well-established reputation and the availabitily of their products all across the US. Sleepictures will try to gain more exposure to the same target audience in order to effectively compete with Shane. Sleepictures has the advantage of being a business based in Salt Lake City where there aren't many similar companies that could compete with it. Thanks to this, Sleepictures retains an element of uniqueness in the local arts scene. Sleepictures can do very well among young, educated professionals interested in supporting local talent. On the other hand, the rival companies listed above have the advantage of being based in bigger cities where the potential clientele pool is correspondingly larger. Most of these companies also have their own shops set up in various cities around the world, making their products more available and easily accessible. In terms of internet presence, Sleepictures has a professionaly designed, user-friendly website that is on par with its competitors. The focus will be on generating more traffic through extensive internet marketing. p 801.403.4315 350 south 200 east #717 salt lake city, utah 84111 teresa@sleepictures.com www.sleepictures.com competition

c o m p e t i t i o n a n a l y s i s Sleepictures' competition is primarily art-driven businesses that sell accessories and apparel that are different from what is mainstream. Some of the companies that Sleepictures shares the market with are:

Paul Frank, California www.paulfrank.com.Paul Frank is a large corporation offering clothing, bikes, eyewear, kids furniture, watches, etc. Paul Frank targets a similar demographic as Sleepictures, and Sleepictures hopes to be able to compete with them in a few years time.

Emily Strange www.emilystrange.com;Emily Strange is a character-driven line of clothing and accessories that also targets an audience looking for unique apparel and accessories. Their biggest advantage is their loyal clientele; however, Sleepictures offers more variety in our products.

Brooks Salzwedelwww.shaneonyou.com.Brooks Salzwedel (Shane on You) creates unique belt buckles that are offered in stores throughout the country.

The focus will be on generating more traffic through extensive internet marketing.

promotion and advertising

Sleepictures will focus in large part on internet advertising. Sleepictures products will be regularly promoted on www.etsy.com and www.supermarkethq.com, and ads will be placed regularly on Facebook, targeting a specific audience of potential customers. Sleepictures will advertise and submit articles to newspapers and magazines like Nylon Magazine, City Weekly, Juxtapose, Hi-fructose, Vice Magazine, Giant Robot, etc. Sleep-ictures will also rely on advertising through its mailing list, handing out flyers and word of mouth.

financial projections

Teresa Flowers has been running Sleepictures for two years with an average income of $8,000.00 a year. She already has a starting supply of belts, buckles and necklaces ready for sale, as well as a stock of promotional materials.

In the first year of business, Teresa invested 100% of Sleepictures profits into expanding and promoting her business. In order to increase her income from last year, Teresa is planning to set up booths in more festivals and markets all around Utah (e.g. Park Silly Market, Salt Lake Farmer's Market, Utah Arts Festival, Beehive Bazaar, Oh Sweet Sadie Art and Gift Show, etc.) and if the financial situation allows, out-of-state festivals and markets (Bumbershoot, South by Southwest, Unique LA Holiday Show, etc). A lot of attention will be given to expanding her promotional activity and increasing her internet presence.
