    What does it take to be a good parent?

    What are the characteristics of good parent? Every parent wishes for being the best parent.

    We want everything perfect for our children.

    HOW? No specific rules or guideline.

    It the interpersonal relationship between parents andchildren.

    The method/relationships is highly personal. What may works between few parents and children may

    not for certain parents and children.

    Before manage our children, we should we manage our self.

    How? With 10 commitment that will make us a better

    parent:-

    a) Commitment taking care of our self.

    Staying happy, patient and encouraging.

    Self-nurturing into your life e.g. go to bed early, eathealthfully, thinking positive and calm yourself.

    b) Commit to loving the one youre with

    Kids who feel loved and cherished thrive.

    Kids who thrive feel loved and cherished for exactly whothey are e.g. when a child live in the loving surrounding,

    they will become a loving children.

    c) Commit to staying connected

    We have to repeatedly reconnect Always hug you child the first thing in the morning and whensay goodbye.

    d) Commit to role modeling respect Speak to your kid respectfully

    Always the model to your kids.e) Commit to teaching emotional intelligence Help kids learn to manage their emotions by teaching them

    self-soothef) Commit to looking for needs behind your childs behavior

    Motivates your child to be independence.g) Commit to guidance rather punishment Address needs rather than focusing on misbehavior. Gives positive feed back to your child

    Characteristics of good parent?

    1. Must have active participant in child life

    Children learns by watching

    Be aware of what you project

    Know your children personality

    Parent our child with based

    2. A Nurturer

    Demonstrate unconditional love by addressing thebehavior

    Express forgiveness when your child shows misdeed.

    Employ positive reinforcement when set a limit. Keep your expectation realistic and appropriate to your

    child abilities e.g. dont expect or force them to become ifthey are not interested.

    3. A teacher

    Teach our child to become a productive and responsibleadult.

    Impart wisdom and common sense .

    Set limits for our child behavior.

    Teach our child the values such as being honest, being fair,caring, patient and understandings.

    4. Enjoying our children

    Spend time with your child once in a while.

    Play with them e.g. plays indoor games or read with them It a way to build relationships and opportunity to lay

    foundation of trust and love.

    5. Show our children how to get along with others

    Show them how to socialize with other Let your child settle disputes among themselves

    Never allow hitting, punching, biting or bullying

    Encourage them to share, take turns, to be respectful to

    other Show them how to express their feelings with words

    6. Set expectations for our children

    Tell your children what is expected from them.

    Develop daily routine such as time for meals, snacks,playtime and naptime.

    Try to be consistent in how you expect children to behave

    Know your child capability of at different ages.

    Always put your child first in everything Provides a loving home, instills value, right from wrong

    Make sure child properly clothed, well fed and has propereducation.

    Give the child what they need especially love and support Finally, protects the child at any cost
