What is SlideShare?

SlideShare has one simple goal- to share KNOWLEDGE with everyone else! SlideShare is a web based slide hosting service, in which you may upload privately or publicly.

SlideShare has grown to become the world’s largest community for sharing presentations.

SlideShare is similar to YouTube, although it’s emphasis is more on presentations and professional video.

It allows users to easily upload and share:

Presentations

Infographics

Documents

Videos

PDFs

Webinars

Pros to Utilizing SlideShare

Fully accessible- Users are able to search presentations on any topic!

Ability to integrate presentations through social media and online learning systems.

You can create webinars (Slidecast) and web meetings (Zipcast) to meet up online.

Embed and share presentations by anywhere by anyone, yet have the ability for your presentation to be public or private.

Great for learning environments and collaborate with others.

New- SlideShare MOBILE- you are able to access presentations through cell phones, labtops, etc.

Cons to Utilizing SlideShare

Due to it being FREE, there are a lot of limitations, unless you purchase an account.

In adding audio or video within a presentation, you have to do separate steps (using other software).

Does not support presentations with audio already included.

When using Zipcast (web conferencing system), you are not able to do screen sharing with the presenter, as you can with paid sites like GoToMeeting
