SLM Global HULL CLEANING ROBOT SYSTEM
SLM Global hull cleaning robot system is one of the most efficient and eco-friendly systems. Ship owners and management companies are suffering from harsh economic conditions and stricter regulations to preserve national environments.
We believe that SLM Global hull cleaning robot system improves vessels’ operation efficiency by reducing hull resistance through reliable cleaning functions and meets international environmental demands with bio-fouling filtering systems.
SLM GlobalHull Cleaning Robot System
Fouling usually increases the hull resistance and decreases ship operating efficiency • Increased idle time of ships as a result of economic recession has created
propagation conditions for the bio-fouling.
• Some papers and test results show that an even low-level fouling such as slime is not a negligible quantity of drag which may cause a significant resistance force variation.
• Hull resistance force in water-merged parts is an important energy-loss factor because it is equivalent to approximately 70% of all drag forces.
IMO and local authorities are addressing hull fouling issues to mitigate the spread of invasive species on the ship surface • The 15th session of the IMO Sub-Committee on Bulk Liquids and Gases (BLG 15)
met in London to develop [Guidelines for the control and management of ships’ bio-fouling to minimize the transfer of invasive aquatic species].
• On 26 June 2013, Australian government endorsed the [Anti-fouling and in-water cleaning guidelines].
Smart hull cleaning provides energy-saving technologies in ship operation • Annual fuel cost: $ 8.5 million (for a 9,000-TEU containership)
• Number of sailing days : 250 days
• Fuel consumption : 150 tons a day
• Type of fuel : Bunker-C oil (Based on the Rotterdam IFO 380 price)
