Freedom is a word, which has been declinated by every case in the last months. It is desired by everyone and for many it is something priceless. But what does the word mean for us, personally? What value does it have for us, immersed in consumptive-corporative world? Do we feel that we have it or not at all? Its multi-dimensionality doesn’t help in giving easy answers to these and many other questions. Bu freedom is what allows us to ask them. Moreover, it forces us to make choices. It depends on us how we think and how we realize our thoughts. Freedom is a source of infinite possibilities…

You have 5 unique days ahead of you and your free will as well. How you use that time is entirely up to you. What will you “develop a taste” for? What will you experience? Will you learn something more about yourself? What will you bring in the lives of other? What will you share with them? What will they learn from you? The quality of the next days will be determined by your choices. Your heart is free, have the courage to follow it.

WATERPath charted for those of us, who like more niche kind of things, demanding focus, reflection and commitment. Recommended by Andrzej Horyza.

WINDPath for people who like strong flavo-urs. What does that mean? Rocking, expansive self-expression, desire to personally contribute, not only to take from the others. Recommended by Tomasz Bogowski.

FIRESWAG is just a key word. If you know it there is a great Chance you will deem this path the best for yourself. You are looking for good fun, do not feel like serious meditation, enjoy, YOLO. Recommended by Marcin Młynek.

EARTHPath created with travellers, world-curious people, concerned with its future in mind. Recommended by Kasia i Łukasz Kaleta.

PATHES

We are all unique, have different tastes and different moods. That’s why when cre-ating the programme for SAF we try to include something for everyone here. The consequence is a huge amount of items on the programme. To help you find the most interesting propositions, we have create 4 programme paths. The paths refer to spe-cified palette of our preferences, characters and moods. Each one of the paths is of course a subjective selection done by its curators. To categorize them some way we have given them names of the four elements:

If you are interested in any of the paths, look for the corresponding icons in the headlines of particular programme items.

Tuesday, 8.07KRZIKOPA, 20:30Krzikopa bases on traditional sound of Upper Silesia and mixes them with such contemporary genres as: electro, metal, DN’B. Musicians themselves say about their compositions: Formerly in Silesia when people felt like dancing a bit, they gathered in one hut and bandsmen would play Silesian songs for them, in which there were all of the elements of the culture of Upper Silesia. There is nothing like that today. Krzikopa confronts this situation by putting cultural authenticity of „Silesian ditties” into the contemporary meaning of words „let’s go party”. 36 HC PUNK CLUB

fot.: Mateusz Bilski

Tuesday, 8.07 THIS NOISE – hc/rock/punk - playing since 2012, the representative scene of Wroclaw. Melodic hardcore punk-rock. To shake your body and give you energy.ONE TRILLION DREAMS – emo lyri-cal punk – Do you want to move and be moved? Songs for sensitive boys and sensitive girls. Emo lyrical lyrics and melodies with hardcore-punk twist. They formed in 2008 and released one EP Jeden Trylion Snów (one trillion dreams).

Wednesday, 9.07

HOPE AGAINST HOPE - spirit filled hc – They come from hard-core / punk backgrounds but their big-gest inspiration is the person of Jesus. In their music they combine energy and melody with reality of God in their hearts. Concrete music with concrete message.

Antiperspirant won’t help, one song and you will melt.

Thursday, 10.07

NIESTETY – punk – Fortunately there are still bands that blast punk rock like in the good old days. And they are not some old hands, but quite a young crew. Without needless musical acrobatics. “simply played, simple rhythm, simple beat, simple play” quoting the classics of the genre :) We are not in the opera after all, it’s all about being loud, fast and to scream out a couple important things. FIVE SECONDS TO LEAVE - post rock Czech skupina, which trans-fers us into the land of post rock, but we will find a good deal of sludge, ambient, drone elements. Psychedelic, composi-tions dragging in like quick-sand. Pene-trating virtually epic atmosphere, com-

positions lazily unfolding transform into a storm of sounds. Monumentality. Dark, mysterious music. .

Friday, 11.07

FATE - punky reggae – It’s a band that gained quite a popularity in the ‘90s on indepen-dent scene. Then they rocked exceptio-nally and now – after a long break – they come back to performing. In their music they mix melodic punk rock with ele-ments of reggae. Their lyrics bear strong message, that doesn’t leave people indif-ferent, that moves the hearts, and after all that’s the most important thing!REGRES - hardcore-punk – Sincerity, message, in-volvement, noise, that brings about a lot of positive emotions. For many years on stage, but still with the same passion and consequence in creating sound, that move and inspire. Their trademark are very spontaneous and energetic con-certs, during which there is no place for divisions, exclusion, exclusivity. It’s their second visit at SLOT and they are very happy about it.

Saturday. 12.07

HAŃBA - interwar folk-punk – The group con-sists of four musicians with sizeable experience playing in folk (Bumtrala-la, Iglika, Południca!), punk (Ziemniaki), metal (Crowmoth), indie-rock (SuperXiu, Two Red Triangles)and even electronic (UnitraProdiż) bands. Together they’ve decided to create a band that is a musical fiction, a kind of time machine taking the listeners into the interwar Poland. Armed with an instrumentarium of a street band they play energetic, simple punk inspi-

red by Polish folklore on one hand and modern achievements on the other. GARS - post hc - Hard, dark and trans-y, piercing vocals and a pinch of melancholy. Sounds erupting like a volcano but at moments it’s calm and delicate. Very mature music, perfected sound and the poetics of lyrics hit like a 200-hundred-pound hammer. This music machine rolls slowly, crushing everything in its way.

In created fragments of painting composition I find similarities with shapes known to me or places where I have already been. I go back to my memories from the past, spaces where I spent my childhood or where I have been “for a moment”. The goal of my works is striving towards such viewings of space, that in its object rela-tions touched the searches in the field of generalisation. SLOT is a platform uniting people for whom Christianity is an inspiration to get involved in cultural, educational and social activity. SLOT is more of a movement than an organization – it’s hard to set the boundaries for ideas, especially when their carriers are people.SLOT is a Public Benefit Organization (OPP) – which means that you can donate 1% of your income tax to support its activities. KRS (National Court Register) number is 0000163877. SLOT – Local Creative Centers Association – does not engage in com-mercial activity and is not profit-oriented. All of the income is allocated to statutory activities.

Page 67: Slot Art Festival 2014 - Guidebook

67This text is an attempt to express what is important for those who create SLOT.

It’s a combination of many different perspectives that partially describe reality and partially portray dreams and aspirations.

# CREATIVITY AND DEVELOPMENTWe’re interested in creativity. Change, movement and development are

all parts of the art of life that we want to master. If we decide that we’ve attained those attributes it will be a sign

that we’re lost. We don’t only want to react. The passion, energy, lightness and beauty we find when we create is missing in reaction.

We need and seek inspiration and we want to be that for others.

# FREEDOM We offer a standing invitation to be authentic, to be exactly who you are. There is

richness in our diversity. A second word must be used along with freedom- responsibility. Responsibility for people and other creatures which live with us

and alongside us as well as for the space we inhabit.

# MEETINGIt’s possible to pass by, but it’s also possible to meet.

We choose the latter. We can desire to understand and to be understood. Out of these options we prefer the first.

SLOT is like a mountain shelter where travelers meet. Their meeting is important regardless of the path

they’ve chosen or the goal they’ve set.

# LOVEWe base our activities on relationships, friendships and community.

This conscious attempt to look beyond “my wants” or “my needs” whether as individuals or in groups is most important.

This is what gives meaning to our work. Love is very practical. It’s the awareness and desire to stop for someone when

everything is pushing us forward. If there is ever a final evaluation of our lives, without a doubt we will be questioned about this

# GODWe believe in Jesus. It’s simple but not always the same.

This is our foundation and the deeper we go in it, the more our inspiration flows for creativity, for justice, for freedom

and to be ourselves with others and for others.Much also flows from this foundation for those

of us who think and believe differently.Things get muddled when we forget that “only the important things

are important’, that it’s a journey and not a religion It’s good to remind ourselves of this then.
