Todays’ cities are a fertile ground for technology innovations and collective creativeness. More than two thirds of the European population lives in urban areas where overwhelming challenges exist, related to the human impact on climate change, natural resource limits and economic growth. Without improvements the cities will not interact and respond to citizen needs in the future. All this triggers many important initiatives both at European and at a national level.

Smart Cities Exhibition and Conference is one of them, looking ahead to provide new approaches on how to design and transform cities in South-East Europe into sustainable environment. The event promotes new technologies and models which can be successfully integrated into urban systems as a perfect blend between environmental and economic concerns. Smart Cities also strengthens regional cooperation and experience exchange. Despite that smart cities is a new concept in the Region, it inspires policymakers, municipalities, practitioners and foreign inves-tors involved in urban development to search for new fields for feasible projects realization.
