What is a smart-phone?

A smart-phone is a cellular device with extra functionality which provides convenience to the user in all facets of life

These extra functionalities include an organiser, internet connectivity, in some cases access to a GPS and more.

A smart-phone can be touch screen or have a quark key pad. But the functions will still be the same.

The cons of a smart-phoneBecoming overwhelmed by non-stop data and

the stressful obligation to keep in touch through different mediums -- i.e., text, Facebook, email

Smart-phones are more expensive than regular mobile phones, and require data plans to be completely functional.

Some of the newest Smartphone models have the highest levels of radiation emissions and are at questionable limits of radiofrequency safety set by the Federal Communications Commission.

•The diagram to the right shows projections of smart phone usage in the USA for 2010 which was done by the Nelson company.•The information shows that 29.7% of the people use smart-phones and this figure is likely to go up in the following years.• The data shows us that smart-phone usage is on the rise because of its many advantages.

•The figure to the left shows the world wide smart-phone market share and the predicted growth in the following years up to 2015. •It is seen that in the following years smart-phone market share will rise.•More and more businesses are now using smart-phones to track their activities and customers are now using smart-phones to shop or trade with other customers or businesses. This impact in business dealings is likely to cause an increase in demand for smart-phones.

Conclusion

Putting the advantages and disadvantages of using a smart-phone together, we find that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. So smart-phones are a good investment and one day they may become a necessity.
