At different stages in our lives, we express in words our filial affinity with our mother:

At 6 years, “Mommy I love you.”At 10 years, “Mom, whatever.”At 16, “My Mom is so annoying.”At 18, “I wanna leave this house.”At 25, “Mom, you were right.”At 30 years, “I wanna go to Mom’s house.”At 50 years, “I don’t wanna lose my Mom.”At 70 years, “I would give up everything for my Mom to be here.”

We only have ONE Mom, be nice to her.

My mother is a woman like no other. She gave me life, nurtured me, taught me, dressed me, stood by me, carried me, yelled at me, spanked me and kissed me. But most importantly loved me unconditionally.

There are not enough words I can say to describe just how important my mother is to me, and what a powerful influence she continues to be.

As we step into May, let us remember the moments of life when we prayed and found ourselves praying with our Lady. The Legion of Mary takes this month as the month of the Lady and has launched the campaign of Marian Visit, and inviting each family in the St. Margaret’s Church area to sign up to pray with our Lady through bringing her statue back home. As our priests have pointed out, we should not just invite our Lady to our home, we should have her home. This brings us to reflect and think why this is so important? I am not one of those who have a degree on our faith but from a very simple point of view, having our lady at home allows us to remember that we have to pray to our Lord and with her prayers I believe that this will be a booster to allow our faith to strengthen, as well as allowing our prayers to reach our Lord. We also should view our Lady from the way she serves our Lord. Silent, observing, yet practical – every mystery from the Rosary mysteries do we observe these traits of our Lady; every mystery from the Rosary do we see how our Lady is serving our Lord.

Our Lady’s son, God’s only son, reminds us when he was on the cross, “Behold your mother” (John 19:27). Reflecting on the message, have we remembered this? What’s the meaning of the mother of the Church to you? For us Legionaries, we see this as a backbone that makes our army work together through praying, caring, loving each other and above all, to spread His Holiness with Her prayers in between. Let’s chant “Totus tuus ego sum regina mae mae mater”, which means “I am all yours, my Queen my mother and all that I have is yours”. Let’s also try to say a Hail Mary every day, not to “worship” her but as a way of echoing the words of our Lord, treating her as our Mother and talking to her. In Christ let’s all work hard in His mysteries of faith and in Mary, let’s continue to pray for peace in our family, our society, our work, our life, and our world. In Mary, we pray!

Article Contributions Welcome

The newsletter is in many ways a ‘family letter’, facilitating the communication and shar-ing of ideas between different groups in our parish. Therefore you will be most welcome to share with us your spiritual life and insights, parish activities and pilgrimage experience, etc.

Text should be close to a full-A4 page length or half of it, with high resolution photos for print quality where relevant. We also welcome a simpler photo journal format with titles for the photos and may be a few lines to describe an event you have participated; it would be great to see different members of our family. Please send your contributions by email if possible; in case of handwritten manuscripts, please give it to the counter staff at the amenities building next to St. Margaret’s Church. Originals will not be returned so please make copies if necessary.
