Why: Success Story: New active members are sought to maintain a vital organization and to increase enthusiasm within the chapter. Practice to Follow: Target companies were chosen based on new member potential and physical location, enabling members to participate in chapter events. Practice to Follow: Contact with potential companies was made by the committee, board members and chapter members using a variety of methods. letters to targeted companies, posted on the chapter website, social media such as LinkedIn, phone calls and personal contacts. The chair personally met with the manager of mid-body assembly at Boeing to promote the drive and SME.

Suggestions for improvement:

Lessons learned: 1. Obtain clerical assistance from a member company if possible. 2. Have several points of contact at companies with potential for

multiple new members. A reminder of upcoming discount deadline provides a spur to action.

3. At the beginning of the drive issue a challenge to each board member to obtain a goal number of new members.

4. Greater utilization of other groups to publicize the drive, such as manufacturing economic development groups, etc.

Big Ah Ha Moment?

One of the most challenging tasks was obtaining contact names and addresses for target company mailings. Clerical tasks required for the drive were significant.
