About 226,000 smoke detectors and combination
smoke-carbon monoxide alarms are being recalled
because they may “fail to alert consumers to a fire.”
The nationwide recall is for Kidde TruSense Smoke
Alarms and combination smoke/carbon monoxide
alarms that were sold at Walmart, Home Depot,
Menards, Amazon and other stores between May
2019 and September 2020, according to a recall no-
tice posted Thursday on the U.S. Consumer Product
Safety Commission website.
No incidents or injuries have been reported, the no-
tice said. The seven recalled alarm models sold for
between $10 and $70.
"Consumers should immediately contact Kidde for a
free replacement alarm," the notice states.
"Consumers should keep using the recalled alarms
until they install replacement alarms."
The recalled units are Kidde Model Series 2040,
2050, 2060 and 2070 Smoke and Combination
Smoke/Carbon Monoxide alarms.

make sure all of your company’s finances are in order. Your
books are like the financial roadmap for your company and
if you aren’t diligent about keeping your books in order, you
could be missing out on financial opportunities, or worse,
losing money unnecessarily.
Business & Marketing Planning
If you haven’t refreshed or even looked at your business
plan or marketing plans in over a year, these strategies
could be outdated or irrelevant. Business is always chang-
ing and your business has to be flexible and adaptable.
Over the course of a year, your business goals may have
changed. Make sure your business plan and marketing
strategies are in line with your current vision. After you
clean your books, you may find needs in one area or anoth-
er that need more attention, or that it’s time to venture into
new markets. Either way, dusting off that old business plan
and making it current is a smart idea.
Physical Cleaning
We encourage you to check out this article from the Har-
vard Business Review that cites multiple studies on the ef-
fects of a cluttered workspace and productivity. People who
work in cluttered work areas are often more distracted,
stressed and anxious, and are more prone to procrastina-
tion.
From an aesthetic point of view, a clean workplace looks
more appealing for your overall brand. And if you have cus-
tomers coming to your office, a tidy office space portrays a
much better impression for you and your brand than a clut-
tered office area.
Spring into Success
There is no better time to whip your business into shape
with a little spring cleaning. And if you want to whip your
accounts into shape, check out our AG Dealer Dashboard,
AG App and AG Chat. We provide these resources to you
for no additional charge.

Many of you have most likely participated in some form of
“Spring cleaning” to tidy up your home or yard. But have
you considered doing some spring cleaning to your busi-
ness? Just like your home, you can accumulate a lot of
“junk” in your business, whether that’s bad database con-
tacts, an overflowing inbox, or even a physically messy of-
fice space — all of which can hamper the performance of
your business.
Spring cleaning your business can go a long way in making
things more streamlined, efficient and more profitable.
Here’s a few pointers to get started.
Scrub Down Your Email
A good place to begin with your spring cleaning is your
email since it is often one of the main gateways for your
customers to engage with you. Cleaning your email can
seem like a daunting task, especially if you have thousands
of unread emails sitting in your inbox, but it can greatly in-
crease your response time to your customers, improve your
overall customer service, and in turn, increase your profits.
Start by mass deleting emails that you no longer need.
Then unsubscribe to email campaigns that you no longer
want to receive. Finally, use the filters, labels, and folders
available in your email client to automatically sort emails.
Check out this article on how to clean your inbox for more
information.
Clean Up Your Website
When was the last time you did a website audit? If you are
saying to yourself, “I’ve never done one,” it’s been too long.
Auditing your website can catch errors like broken links, old
addresses and phone numbers, not to mention outdated
content that may be negatively affecting your business.
Your website is essentially the gateway to your business.
Audit Your Books
Do you have a folder with hundreds of scattered receipts?
Are you able to forecast the next six months of expendi-
tures and income? Ideally, you want to make sure your
books are in order before April 15th (Tax Day), but in reali-
ty, you should be auditing your books every few months to

“A New Way of Looking
at the Value of Security Companies”
“The Security Industry is changing daily, with new technology and untraditional marketing and financial partners.
Ron Davis discusses what is occurring in the industry and how to better prepare for the impact on your company.
He covers a half dozen options for developing an Exit Strategy, for you or for your business. Finally, he presents an update of the M & A market, who’s selling and buying and what is being paid.
Ron is insightful and a Futurist who will give you a plan for your future.”
Ron Davis, President of Davis Mergers & Ac-quisitions Group, recently was inducted into SSI Industry Hall of Fame’s Ring of Honor. He is the first Hall of Famer (inducted into its first class) to be so honored. Davis was recog-nized for his numerous columns, books, webi-nars, podcasts, speaking engagements, vide-os, articles and countless conferences over the past four decades.
Davis Group Names Kelly Bond as Partner
Davis Mergers & Acquisitions Group announced that Kelly
Bond has joined the company to facilitate mergers and
acquisitions transactions.
Kelly comes with nearly 25 years of experience in the se-
curity industry, having spent several years with Brivo, a
software-as-a-service company providing cloud-based ac-
cess control. At Brivo, she focused on Dealer strategy and
financial programs as their VP of Dealer Development.
Prior to that, Kelly spent over a decade as Senior Vice
President of Business Development at Alarm Capital Alli-
ance (ACA), an industry leader in alarm company and
alarm account acquisitions. At ACA she was responsible
for increasing company growth through acquisition and
driving the overall business-to-business development strat-
egy.
Kelly joins Davis Mergers and Acquisitions Group as a
Partner to continue their success in representing sellers of
Alarm and Integration companies. Kelly comments, “I am
very excited to start a new chapter with Davis Group and
look forward to working with this tenured team to contribute
to their growth and further develop their extensive relation-
ships with dealers throughout the country. I am fortunate to
be joining such a well-respected team that prides itself on
integrity, relationships and decades of successful transac-
tions.”
Kelly not only brings a wealth of security industry experi-
ence but also a commitment to the industry with many
years of volunteer work. She currently serves on the Steer-
ing and Nominations committees of SIA’s Women In Secu-
rity Forum and is the National Scholarship Task Force
Chair for the Electronic Security Association (ESA).
Ron Davis, President, said “Kelly’s wealth of experience
and industry knowledge has already made her a key addi-
tion to the Davis Mergers & Acquisitions Group.

Only alarms with the TruSense logo or
“AMBER=FAULT” printed on the front of the alarm
are included in this recall. The model number is
printed on the back of the alarm.
Kidde has a guide on how to identify the affected
models and to complete the recall
at kiddetsalarmrecall.rsvpcomm.com.
To submit a claim, you'll need to upload two photos
for each alarm in its installed location, but the guide
urges not to remove the alarm until your replace-
ment arrives.
According to the PDF version of the guide, replace-
ment alarms should "arrive within 3 business days
once the submission is completed in full."
For questions, consumers can call Kidde toll-free at 844-796-9972 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET on Saturday. Learn more online at kiddetsalarmrecall.rsvpcomm.com or kidde.com.

By: Chris Heaton, ESA Vice President - Advocacy &
Public Affairs
ESA participates in several coalitions on the advocacy
and public affairs front. We participate in a connect-
ed technology coalition that includes several limited
energy associations and large national corporations
that work to protect the limited energy segment
within the National Electric Code. This coalition has
worked for over a year on common legislative inter-
ests in states like Maryland, Massachusetts, Oklaho-
ma and Texas among other states. We also partici-
pate in a coalition of organizations that seek to pro-
tect the integrity of facial recognition and other bio-
metric technology, which is often maligned by special
interest groups that do not understand the technolo-
gy and perpetuate the fear based on anecdotes, usu-
ally from authoritarian countries.
Coalitions like those above can originate at any level
– local, state, or national. It is one such coalition in
Georgia that serves as a reminder of the value they
can have, even if informal and serving a limited pur-
pose. It began with ADT working with a state legisla-
tor to get HB 465 filed. It then rolled from there to
include Comcast, ESA, the Georgia Electronic Life
Safety & Systems Association (GELSSA) and volunteer
leaders like John Loud, LOUD Security Systems, who
also serves as Vice President on the ESA Board of Di-
rectors. The need for a bill like HB 465 was not like
most states that have passed similar legislation,
preempting local governments from fining alarm
companies for false alarms. Fining alarm companies
was actually happening in Georgia – in Sandy Springs,
and then in Brookhaven. The need was acute. Litiga-
tion to stop Sandy Springs was not successful, be-
cause – in short – the due process rights for people
do not necessarily apply for businesses.
This coalition involved multiple interactions over the
phone, on Zoom, in committee hearings, in emails
Georgia Bill Shows What Can Be Accomplished with Coalitions
and in a grassroots campaign asking members to
write their Senators hearing the bill. The real work
was almost always behind the scenes, as is the way
for virtually all state and federal legislation. It is what
I euphemistically refer to as the sausage making of
legislation – And sometimes it works!
Coalitions do take effort. They take a commitment to
follow through, a commitment of time and a spirit of
compromise. But they are worth the effort to protect
the business model under assault. Most businesses
do not think about the laws or regulations that pro-
tect them, which is natural. People tend to think
more about the pain points.
We spend a lot of time researching, writing, and re-
sponding to legislative threats – the pain points. I am
pleased when effort is expended to create legislative
opportunities for our industry. Congratulations to all
who worked to get HB 465 to the Governor.

Day Of Golf & Networking...
NEW for 2021 - the PBFAA is hosting its annual golf outing on separate dates from the annual expo based on the feed-back received from both dealer / integrator attendees and vendor / service providers sponsors. There are two age old adages which that the PBFAA feel pertain to the 2021 Golf Outing:
The first adage relates to “doing business”, and states that “People Buy From People They Know”.
The second adage relates to “golf & work”, and states that “Even a Bad Day at Golf is Better than a Good Day at Work”.
The PBFAA Board of Directors encourages you to put both of these adages to work at this outstanding industry networking opportunity…
The Applecross Country Club is working diligently to comply with all State of Pennsylvania Department of Health and CDC guidelines to ensure a safe and secure golf outing event...
