A second edition, very similar, was issued later in the same year and a third in 1873, with fourth and fifth editions in 1877 and 1882 respectively. An English translation was published in 1874. These later editions are all more common than this first edition which is quite elusive. The book is an account of the wreck of the schooner Grafton (Captain Musgrave), by one of the survivors. Raynal was Mate and this account is taken from his diary. He also recounts his early life including eleven years spent on the Australian goldfields. The Appendix includes a short account of the loss of the Invercauld in the Auckland Isles by Captain Dalgarno, and a relation of the wreck of the General Grant. #36106 A$450.00
