• An adjective clause is used to describe a noun (like an ordinary adjective).

• An adjective clause a group of words with a subject and a verb that provide a description of a noun.

• Ex: Maria loves chocolate cakes that her mother makes.

• Ex: Maria loves chocolate cakes that her mother makes.

• Which cakes? The ones her mom bakes.

• Notice the use of “that” – a relative pronoun gives us information about the cakes.

• A relative pronoun (who, whom, that, or which or an adverb such as when, where and why) introduces an adjective clause.

• Monique has a friend whose daughter lives in Paris.

• Wine that is produced in La Rioja is not cheap.
