Section 1 Introduction Review this manual in its entirety. Contact the Will-Burt Company with any questions before performing any procedure outlined in this manual.

The Snap Dragon™ MKI-M1 scissor lift is a fast, robust, low-profile elevation solution for cameras and other sensors.

Compact design gives the scissor lift nearly a five-to-one deploy-to-stow ratio which allows payloads to be hidden when not in use.

Durable design allows the scissor lift to perform in harsh environments where dirt and dust will not affect the performance of moving parts.

Flexible design enables the system to be installed and operated at various angles expanding the potential uses for the scissor lift. Horizontal mounting would allow the undersides of bridges or large vehicles to be inspected. Inverted mounting would allow payloads to be lowered into containers and caverns.

When the scissor lift is fully extended, a yellow LED on the controller will light. The Up/Down switch retracts the scissor lift when pressed into

the down position ( ). The scissor lift will retract until it is nested (where the scissor lift will automatically stop), or the Up/Down switch is moved to the Hold position. When the scissor lift is nested, a green LED on the controller will light. The center position is a hold position which keeps the lift in its current position. No LED will light when in the hold position or when the scissor lift is between nested and fully extended.

3.4 Quick Summary

The following is a quick summary of the operation of the scissor lift. Detailed steps follow the quick summary.

1. Turn on the On/Off Switch on the control box.

2. Check for proper clearance above the scissor lift.

3. Press the Up/Down switch to the up position ( ) to extend the scissor lift.

4. Press the Up/Down switch to the down position ( ) until the scissor lift is stowed.

5. Turn on the On/Off Switch on the control box.

3.5 Operation

The scissor lift uses an HHRC to control the system. If the scissor loses power at any point during operation, the scissor lift will maintain its current position (e.g. if the lift is extended, it will remain extended; if the lift is stowed, it will remain stowed).

To operate the scissor lift:

1. Turn on the On/Off Switch on the control box (Figure 3-2). This will enable the scissor lift to power up and initiate. A green LED located near the On/Off switch will light up to indicate the control box is powered up.

Figure 3-2 On/Off Switch and LED

2. Check for proper clearance above the scissor lift.

3. To extend the scissor lift, press the HHRC Up/Down switch to the up position ( ). The scissor lift will extend until the button is moved to another position, or the lift reaches full extension. An internal switch in the actuator will stop the scissor lift at full extension. A yellow LED on the HHRC will light to show when the lift is fully extended.

4. To pause the scissor lift in its current position, push the HHRC Up/Down switch to the hold position. The hold position which will neither move the scissor lift up nor down.

5. To retract the scissor lift, press the HHRC Up/Down switch to the down position ( ). The scissor lift will retract until the button is moved to another position, or the lift reaches the stowed position. An internal switch in the actuator will stop the scissor lift once it is stowed. A green LED will light on the HHRC to indicate when the scissor lift is fully stowed.

6. Turn off the On/Off switch on the control box. This will power off the scissor lift. Do not leave the control box powered on as it will continue to drain the vehicle battery.

3.5.1 Emergency Stow

If the scissor lift cannot be stowed by pressing the Up/Down switch to the down position ( ) (for example if power is lost), the scissor lift must be stowed manually.

Safety Instruction! If manually lowering the scissor lift, make sure all power has been disconnected from the system prior to manually lowering the lift.

To manually stow:

1. Ensure all power has been disconnected from the system.

2. Remove the 6 mm Allen bolt on the end of the actuator cover.

3. Place a 6 mm Allen wrench into the hole to reach another 6 mm bolt.

4. Turn the Allen wrench clockwise to lower the scissor lift. Lower the lift until it is stowed.

Section 4 Maintenance This section describes the routine maintenance procedures required to keep your system operational.

Safety Instruction – Operation! Make sure all power has been disconnected prior performing maintenance.

The simple design of the scissor lift requires no scheduled maintenance under normal conditions. The scissor lift uses aluminum anodized parts, and the actuator is sealed. The pivot points use dry-glide bearings which require no lubrication.

The scissor lift contains two fuses within the control box (Figure 4-1). The 25 amp fuse protects the actuator. The 3 amp fuse protects the wires.
