SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is a great tool for monitoring, reporting and alerting on your network and is used by most enterprise level organizations. However it has a dark side. It can easily give away critical information about the system and the network. After showing how to enumerate this critical information and how it can be used in an attack, I will also discuss how to secure SNMP to prevent these kinds of attacks.
