Club Member of the Year Congratulations to Della Whitton who is our 2013 Club Member of the Year. Over the past four years, culminating in 2013, Della has been the driving force behind a better understanding of the Club’s financial position and the timeliness and accuracy of the Clubs reporting. Congratulations Della and thanks for all of your hard work. Jindabyne News - New Lodge Manager We extend a warm welcome to Helen Waite who has been appointed as Jindabyne Lodge manager and booking officer. Helen is a Jindabyne local, who lives with Darren her husband and children, and starts in mid December. As mentioned last newsletter, Helen takes over from Christine Hornig who has moved to Canberra. We again thank Christine for her significant contribution to the running of the Jindabyne Lodge and wish her all the best for her future in Canberra. Smiggins News We also welcome back Gudrun and Juergen for another season at Smiggins in 2014. Juergen advises that he is well on the road to recovery from his major leg injury incurred last season - Ja, Ja, Ja !

Special Thanks #1 Special thanks to Trent and Shelley Morgan, friends of the Club and regular Smiggins guests, who picked Gudrun and Juergen up from an unfortunate car accident recently in Berry which saw their car written off. Shelley was driving through Berry for work and noticed the pair. She picked them up and then allowed them to use husband Trent’s car to get to Sydney and purchase another car. Special thanks #2 Sally Bartley, Smiggins Booking Officer, has stepped down from the position for next season. We take this opportunity to say a BIG thank you to Sally for her efforts in the role for the past 2 seasons. Always a pleasure to deal with, Sally made the booking process as smooth as possible. We also wish Sally a full recovery from the leg injury she sustained last season. Best Wishes Our thoughts are with Robyn Carr who has recently undergone surgery. We wish her a speedy recovery. Get well soon Robyn ! 2013 Smiggins Bowl The Snow Country ski team finished 2nd in the Smiggins Bowl - a very commendable result behind the strong Illawarra Alpine Club team. Special mention to the Snow Country juniors who won the Junior Shield, while John Hopkins won the Slalom and Giant Slalom - outstanding efforts! Once again congratulations to all those members who represented the Club in the Smiggins Bowl. It’s summer time in the mountains… If you need a short (or long) break in January, have you thought about a summer visit to the Jindabyne Lodge? Lodge bookings in December have been solid, but there are still plenty of beds available in January. See the SCSC website for booking forms and rates on some of the most affordable accommodation in Jindabyne. • 1 March : Winter Lodge bookings open for members
• 1 April : Winter Lodge bookings open for non-members
• 18 - 20 April : Back to Perisher weekend (Easter)
• 6 - 9 June : Snowy Mountains of Music Festival (June long weekend) Snow Country Christmas Party Around 70 members and their families got into the Christmas spirit at the SCSC Xmas Party earlier this month. With a visit from Santa, some good food and great company, an enjoyable afternoon was had by all. See the photos at the end of the newsletter. And 2 lucky members had even more reasons to enjoy the afternoon.
